Down in my garage I've got a Sachs engine, drive belt (not in very good condition) and final drive chain case which is supposed to come off one of those Todd, when I got it I was told it ran but I've never had it running. I got it so I could build an ATV type run-about -- doubt I'll ever get around to it now, the boy is 35 now ---  :-X
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Captain Canada

Sachs ? Rotax 300cc baby !

The original one lung wonder !

Streched the legs of the Gannet to 'flying'. Found a flaw in the way I glued the actuators to the flaps so that needs to be rectified....I have also put the forst finish coats of black/ yellow on the spinner and finlets for my fistitious RCN ( yet to be named ) Squadron. 888 Maybe ? How about 814 to mimick the RCAF Black Knights EWU ?

I'll check the FAA Squadron numbers for you when I get home as some are assigned to RCN units as others were to the RAN and the Dutch Naval Arm.

Captain Canada

Thanks Geoff. I know a few of them, but indeed there aren't many ! It's a discussion I'm glad we've started, as I'd like to know which numbers would be plausable.

As for the Gannet, I am heading home tonite and hope to get a bit of work done on it. I did realize however that I have forgotten to glue the bottom og=f the oleo onto the extensions I have made, so I guess that will put 'getting her up on her feet' a bit delyaed.

Sachs ?

Apparently, early Ski-doos ran with them, the one I have is practically identical to what's in this pic

EDIT:  Arctic Cat was the snowmobile manufacturer (or Scorpion before that)

Can't wait to see the Gannet.  I've got a couple of Revell Gannets and a Royal Canuckistan Navy was one option.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Captain Canada

I was pretty excited about it at the start, but it's looking kind of 'average' right now ! Hopefully once I doll her up with markings it will be more 'exciting' !

Captain Canada

I'm using the colours suggested on the Airfix Harrier GR.7/9 kit.....156 and 165 I think. They look close enough to me ! I test fitted the yellow and black spinner, and it really brought the aroplane to life. Now I'm excited again !

Captain Canada

Thanks you sir !

I lengthened the legs and then added the scissor bits in their extended position, and they really look the part !
