thak you for the information, and i do find the reasoning behind it very elegant as well.

Oops, good question, I didn't check. They are far from perfect, but I'm proper chuffed that I seem to be getting a handle on this aspect of modeling. The paper recommends using the 'standard' ink setting, but I pushed it up to 'standard vivid.' There is also a setting to accentuate thin lines, and I used that on another set that I printed on clear paper. They contain a small and rather thin symbol (all will be revealed... ;D ) that appeared to be broken in places, but that feature printed them in their entirety. Onward and upward!

YES! And it's the one that I preferred. The blue vertical bands represent the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and the three leaves represent the Indigenous, British,  and French populations.

The admiration is yours!

I think I learnt that 25 years ago in a museum or art gallery in Ottawa. Surprising what sticks in the mind.

Well, splurged. Got myself a hand-held airbrush, the Autolock one that I posted a video of a few months ago. Normally selling for $100 CDN minimum, guy on ebay selling for $52. DEAL! Brand new, all it took to pick it up was a drive up to Barrie, about an hour and a quarter. The gas used wouldn't even bring the price near $100. Some triggers alone sell for a hundred, but this has the compressor and paint cup, and if I need more pressure I can probably connect it to my larger compressor. This one claims to go up to 30psi, the reviews I've seen say closer to 20psi. But it's a start. Charges with a USB cord, and it's a dual-action.

I have one and used it extensively recently, for a project my wife was making. I sprayed at least four cups worth and the battery indicator barely budged.

The only issue I had was bending the needle while cleaning the tip, but it was easy to straighten out.

That's very interesting Ratty, I wasn't aware of airbrushes with this type of compressor.

I got this one. The first one I bought (different brand) wouldn't turn the air off if I released the trigger; clearly a manufacturing defect. I contacted the seller and they said this was the way it was supposed to work... so I sent it back.

The airbrushes look like Iwatas, but are obviously not of the same quality, which is OK - they won't be as rugged but they are functional. The adapters can fit just about any airbrush.

Here's a good review:

Here's all the bits and bobs that came with it, extra gaskets, cleaning supplies, and USB cable

Started working on the Matchbox meteor NF.14, it will probably the test mule for the airbrush. I know that the recommended nose is too long, and I should use the medium length one included with it, but the long one is already weighted and glued up. Interior is best described as 'pathetic,' with 2 hopeless office chairs impersonating bang seats, but I'm not going to bother reworking the whole interior. Gaps everywhere, putty will be used by the truckload. Raised panel lines are so fine that it looks as if a coat of paint will obscure them, but I don't really worry about that.

Thanks for posting the review link Ratty. I shall view later. I find myself strangely drawn, however given various things it's a decision for the cold light of day and definitely post New Year.

Changed my mind and went with the medium length nose supplied. But I hope I don't start obsessing over accuracy, this is supposed to be a fun build.

The Avro Ottawa? According to Wikipedia, one of the names proposed for the Vulcan was 'Ottawa,' in honour of the association with Avro Canada. But I might resurrect the name for a highly modified Vulcan. Viggenised, with a lengthened forward fuselage, and canards like the XB-70. Thinner wings, and afterburning Olympus engines. I have the Cyber-hobby 1/200th Vulcan in the stash, and somewhere in the basement is the venerable Airfix Concorde, from the 1960s, which might donate the wings.
