And now I'm seeing it again. Couldn't see it on my phone. shows up on my laptop. Weird.

2 more ancient and 'orrible examples of my penchant for modeling masochism. The Testors/Hawk Spitfire Mk22 (13 pieces if you include the 2 piece stand!), and the Advent/Revell A-3 Skywarrior, complete with a crew that wouldn't be able to see where they're going because they sit far too low. But the canopy is so grossly flattened they they would be bumping their heads anyway. The Spitfire will wind up as a Reno racer, fuselage will be gloss black, wings red, with the name of the well known North American bird; Red-Winged Blackbird. The A-3 might be French Navy, if I can BS a back story giving them a large enough carrier. Chris Reed notified me about the proposed Verdun Class carriers, so that is a great help.

I've actually got quite fond memories of that old Hawk Spit 22  ;D

Nah, don't worry about carrier usage - call it a land-based squadron, doing something nefarious in North Africa... the paintjob and anchors over the roundels being to fool the opposition and other countries' intelligence-gathering organs...  ;)

Light on detail, heavy on rivets, and the vertical stabiliser is representative of only the first few Mk22s, but it goes together well with a good fit. And I've just realised that there's only 12 parts, those wings are one piece tip to tip.

The Wooksta!

The radiators are the wrong shape and too small, plus the fuselage has an odd cross section that appears to be pinched in around the engine.

Yep, she's go her faults, but if you wanted to give a kid a kit to get them into modeling, you could do a lot worse than handing them this one. As a Spitfire it ain't much, as a model it's great.

Gradually getting the hobby room less disorganized, except for the desk/bench. An absolute disaster, and I wouldn't have it any other way. A clean modeling bench is just perverse, an affront to the gods of polystyrene.

In all its inglorious mess.

Considering that the first film came out in 1977, that puts him in the right age range. I feel old. How about you?  :o

Yup I forget it was that long ago  :banghead: He would have been 11 or 12 I think ? I was 25 so if I'm honest it went over my head a little. Film was good but that was about it, still can't see what the fuss is about if I'm honest

Perhaps because the original 3 were pure escapism, just a bunch of action, a ripping yarn, and easily understood heroes and heroines. That's precisely what Lucas wanted. Then it tried to take itself seriously, and whether it succeeded or not is a matter of personal preference. I like the whole lot, but that's probably because I view almost anything like that as just entertainment, without reading more into it. If you want to view anything through an artistic eye, go ahead, but not me. Probably why I only see about one film a year.  ;D
