Like the real-world XP-40Q, the XP-40R was a "last gasp" attempt by Curtiss to keep P-40s in production. The Tigerhawk was tested and found to be the fastest P-40 but it was not as maneuverable as was hoped. It was inferior to the P-51 at high altitudes. It has been consigned to the dust-bin of history. This is the Matchbox P-40N with my last set of FROG Shackelton propellers. I opened the shallow molded radiator grill and built the internal framing, oil cooler, and radiator cans from scrap card and sprue. The paint is Humbrol Metallic Aluminum, applied by brush with a Future overcoat. I raided the scrap-box for the markings, the shark-mouth coming from an Airfix F-86 Sabre Dog.

Adios, Larry.

VERY ferocious indeed with that monster sharkmouth!

What did you do with the rest of the Shackleton though?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Contra-rotating propellers equals no(or very little) torque. They should have little effect on an aircraft's roll rate. Adios, Larry.
