Father Ennis

Thanks for the info. I been kicking that idea around for some time. I've got a Revell Germany bike kit that caught my eye in my stash. It needs a lot of cleaning to make it good plus I've never liked that "line" left by gluing parts together.

Don't know if you saw this one that I did a couple of years ago: my only bike model!  ;D

I've read that topic a couple of times over the years, actually, I really like all the things you added to make it look like her personal bike, especially the screen, that's a real original thing to add to a scale bike, first time I've seen that anyway.
I think it's about time you build another bike, Weaver! Change of pace, that sort of thing

Father Ennis: looking forward to the build  Which Revell bike kit is beckoning?

Captain Canada

Did you see the video going around of the V8 two stroke ? Holy smokes....literally !

2-stroke V8? Old hat!

;D

Talking about V8's, I have this pic on my harddrive, and it might be influential in my next motorbike build:

Father Ennis

Well, since you ask, I have a Vincent Black Shadow from Revell Germany.

Captain Canada

This was a horizontal V-8 with full blown expansion chamber pipes......

That's quite a... 'challenging' kit, I've build it too. I wish you good luck and an extra dose of patience :-X

I saw the video on youtube, cap. Lovely noise!

The only bike on my 200-odd item to-do list () is a Suzuki Katana to be converted into a grav bike complete with sexy rider. However that will leave the Katana engine spare, so one thing I might do is get a custom bike kit, with it's inevitable Harley engine and put it in that, to make a replica of the kind of chops you used to see in the UK in the '80s and '90s.

Can't wait for both of those! The Katana will always be a beaut, no matter what you do to it.

Small update:

I gave the fuell cap to a fellow builder so next step will be to find or scratchbuild a replacement.

"Mind that bus." "What bus?" *SPLAT!*

Father Ennis

I don't see the Black Shadow kit to be anymore challenging than one of ICM's car or truck kits plus there isn't any PE to deal with !!!    Then again, I haven't started on building it ,either.

Captain Canada

A gas cap should be easy enough to scratch up

I was going to say that the standard custom gas-cap mod is an aircraft-style filler cap and you could maybe pinch one off another bike. Having said that though, the custom shop you're basing it on don't seem to go in for that. Maybe a wheel hub from a smaller-scale vehicle kit would be about right?

For Father Ennis: Chrome vs. Bleach in 3 mins.

And so did a humble 1/24 hubcap (from Revell's 'London Taxi') become a new 1/12 gas cap:

I thought about removing the Austin (at least I think that's what it is ) logo, but it adds a bit of interest, so I left it.
