Long time no update!

Decals are on.

The decals are much too flashy, as you can see on the pic above so I weathered them a good deal.

First step: soften the decals with Micro Sol and sand them with 1500 grade sandpaper. This gives a randomly faded look. The difference can be seen between the weathered left side and untouched right side on the pic below.

Second step: spray a light mist of the base color over the decals to further fade them and blend them in.

That's all for now.

WOW! Been on a serious Dinosaur big game hunt, by the looks of it . Just love the matt finish.

MichelC

Yeah, dino hunter-killer! LOL

This isn't the final finish, actually it's the pre-decal Future coat that somehow appears dulled on the pix. The final clear will be seriously matte and dusty.

Great job ! I too noticed the kill markings straight away....and I love all the weathering, especially where they enter and exit the machine.

Thanks Captain Canada!

Glad you guys like the kill markings. At the beginning I thought of making simplified outlines for the various types of vehicles in the Ma.K universe: hovering tanks, flying tanks, drones, fighting suits, etc. but it seemed like too much work to draw them myself so I took a shortcut and grabbed these dyno cartoons off the Internet to symbolize the various categories.  ;D

That's some top-shelf modelling going on here!   Wow!
The stencils look much more convincing now.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

That is awesome work! Those decals look so much better toned down like that.

That one's finally done!

I used an oil wash for the panel lines..

...and various oil filters to darken certain panels (thank Chukw for that technique!). I also used oils to make oil stains and grime, which is particularly workable after the flat coat.

Pastels were used to dirty the model further, sun-fade the upper surfaces, make smoke stains, etc.

The engine got some further weathering with brown oils to bring it in line with the rest of the model and make the overall look more consistent.

With those kind of holes in the skin that guy ain't gonna fly again any time soon!

A good view of the camo:

In addition to the oils I used AK Fuel Stains to make...well, fuel stains. The result looks OK, I guess.

Chipping was a major step in creating the beat-up, battle-weary look I wanted. Using different shades and tones of metal paint and working the areas over with pastels and oils helps make it look more realistic.

Those filter details were worth the effort, I think.

That gat won't shoot no more!

The fire damage and smoke stains are faithfully reproduced from pics of a real shot-down Falke.    ;D

My personal fave in this build: the inside of the hatch cover.

I like to get down and dirty.   ;)

Rear details.

Thanks to the big opening the inside of the pit is quite visible.

Front view. Love the rough, tough and mean look.

That's it with the Falke. Now on to something else. Thanks for following along!

Cheers!
