Apart from the occasional upgrade etc I have very limited experience of large scale resin use. I have a hankering to put together the Alley Cat 1/48 Tucano so I was wondering if anyone has built this kit. Reviews are superb and it looks pretty straightforward but I'm perplexed by the resin canopy. Can this be futured safely? Will it become opaque with time? Any tips, pointers etc would be gratefully received as the purchase price is moderately high.

Hobbes

Yes, you can use Future on the canopy without problem. I built a P.1154 with a resin canopy 4 years ago, and it still looks good.

I expect the canopy is rather brittle so you need to be careful with it, but I've had no problems during the build.

Thanks Hobbes . Really tempted now. Would look great as a COIN bird.

Agree with Hobbes. I've had experience with Anigrand's resin canopies and find them much easier to use then vac forms. They are getting better in terms of clarity with each new kit that uses them as well

Just remember ,resin dust is highly toxic and a lung irritant.  Wear a mask when working on it.
