What would make a Good Helijet Query

Hey Guys, being Inspired by Thunderbirds Etc. I'm Considering Building a Helijet,I First thought about Using a CH-46 or Ch-47,but I'm Open to Other Options, Any Input would Help. What Say You? FYI, I'm Planning build a Helijet like the One Featured Briefly in the Imposters Episode of Thunderbirds,But With a Few Twists. Thanks For Looking. Dan

Dan, there's a good article by a guy who recreated one of the Helijets from Thunderbirds.  He used two Kaman Huskie kits, as they did in the show.

Otherwise, you could use any kit with a box type fuselage as a basis.  CH-46 and CH-47 would work.  Other possibilities:

CH-53
CH-54
Merlin
Rotodyne
Kamov Ka-25
Kamov Ka-26/126/226 (for a very small variant!)
Kamov Ka-27/Ka-31
Mil Mi-8/Mi-17
Bristol Freighter

Some of those kits are admittedly not the easisest to get hold of (Airfix Bristol Freighter, Airfix and Revell Rotodyne, A Model Ka-26/126/226) but useful if you can find one.

They created the engine pods from B-58 Hustler pods in the shows, you could do the same, use other pods, or saw the ends off some large drop tanks.

Heck, what about using some square section PVC pipe, the stuff used for gutter downpipes?
Easily available from B&Q or the like.

I'll add Short Skyvan.  MV-22 Osprey perhaps, but is more curvy.

What scale is that Huskie? I can only remember a big 1/32 scale one, maybe by Hawk/Testors?

Hawk 1/32, reboxed by Italeri and Testors. But Airmodel, Combat Models, Mach2, Masterkit/USA and Merlin all did 1/72 models (according to the big book)

I've got the Airmodel one and I've been trying to build it for over 20 years! Easy it is NOT!  I'm amazed Mach 2 did one without me finding out, I may persue that one.

I LOVE the thing, we used to see them at the US Forces Day at Upper Heyford putting out imaginary fires with a big water 'bomb' hanging underneath, amazing device.
