A cheap lot of Master Craft models, including a PZL 11, a PZL 24 and a PZL 37 Los bomber. Surely not highlights of the model kit industry, but good for mods. I already envisage the Los on floats...

They're decent kits actually - sound basis forgood models and a handy, cheap canvas upon which to practice modelling techniques.

They are. I built several KP kits in the 80ies and 90ies (including two or three PZL 37 bombers), and actually the newer KP Models and Master Craft re-releases have some improvements, e. g. better clear parts. Kits arrived today, and I'd call it a bargain for what I got and paid. You can make something from these kits, and that's modelling is IMHO about.

Two more additions: a 1:72 Valom XFV-1 "Salmon" (maybe in all dark blue as a simple USN service aircraft...?) via evilbay (was pretty cheap) and a Bandai "Cosmo Falcon Fighter" from Space Battleship Yamato 2199, directly from a store in Japan. Saw the box art and thought that this could eventually be turned into a contemporary 5th generation fighter with only minor mods - maybe with Red Stars...?  ;D

The Zvezda 1/144 Hurricane that comes with the latest edition of SAMI.

Didn't get one with my subscription. Apparently they are only in some magazines at the newsagents. I shall be having a word with Gary Hatcher next time SAMI appear at a show. A bit poor me thinks
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That's a cracking kit, the best XFV-1 out there to my mind, but it doesn't have too much competition of course.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

From E2046, a resin kit of Shaian, the main mecha character from the 1988 OVA "Dragon's Heaven". Classic bit of weird Makoto Kobayashi design.

Here's a screenie of Shaian from the animation. The model will be a little different, but you get the idea.

Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Looks like some sort of weird Invid mech.

Not familiar with the animation, but the style looks like a copy/homage to French artist Moebius (Jean Giraud).

There may have been a Moebius influence, certainly, though I'm not aware of Kobayashi discussing it (I know Hayao Miyazaki was quite vocal about the influence Moebius/Heavy Metal had on Nausicaa in particular). He's done a huge amount of mechanical design work (including some Gundam and the vanships in Last Exile), as well as building models. A lot of it has been compiled in the "Hyper Weapon" series of books which are really rather cool. Dragon's Heaven is available on Youtube, if you're interested. It's a very weird bit of animation - the style is quite unlike any other I've seen, and although it's quite a low budget it still works well. The story isn't anything special, but it's cool in it's own weird way.

There's an overview of some of MK's stuff here: http://aswars.tripod.com/index.html
