Airfix Douglas Invader ....will appear with RAF roundels, but amazingly not a whiff

We (Brits) had 2 didn't we ?

In a back issue of Air-Britain's Aeromilitaria a few years ago, there was a couple of photos of them.  I'll have to see if I can find it but they're scattered around the house in various boxes.

In a back issue of Air-Britain's Aeromilitaria a few years ago, there was a couple of photos of them.  I'll have to see if I can find it but they're scattered around the house in various boxes.

My main reference picture is in "Lend-Lease Aircraft in World War II" which actually shows KL692 which was the third (ie not delivered) aircraft. It has roundels and is shown flying presumably somewhere over the US (Tulsa - see below)

Also in "The Secret Years - Flight Testing at Boscombe Down 1939-1945" There is a photo and profile of KL690 (the 'first' UK aircraft) at Boscombe Down in April 1945  but it has 'stars and bars' markings

A quick google search provides four photos of RAF Invaders - looks to be KL692 (same photo as in 'Lend-Lease') and of KL702 at the site below

It refers to the fact that the Invaders would replace the Bostons of No 88 Squadron RAF....so there's an 'almost-was' what-if

Had a read of that and it's quite interesting.  But it's not what I remember of the article I've read, which was about the comparative test of all the aircraft involved.  (as far as I can remember that is)

Where to start.........I answered yes please to a freebie from Librarian expecting a couple of small tubs of spares....how wrong...!! Two big tubs containing bits of everything....!!! Also a nearly complete 1/48 israeli F15i and a hase 1/48 F18 and an academy 1/48 P38....and an very nearly complete B36 in 1/72.....its huge....!!!!

A Tamiya 1:100 Il-28 as basis for another major conversion (think of a "mini Yak-28"?), an Airfix fabric wing Hurricane Mk.! (to turn it into a Polish aircraft, based on a pretty profile from PantherG and the fact that this is a whif with a real world background) and an Amodel Su-3 which might turn into a French fighter some day...

Blinking hell......just found a nearly complete 1/48 Revell Rafale M under the Hase Hornet......the rwo boxes of bits are awesome. ....there appear to be nearly complete kits in there as well.......gonna take a while to sort through the boxes....
