picked up a Revell 1/72 DHC-6 Twin Otter this morning
i like it that they included the extended nose, ski's and floats  ;D
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Dizzyfugu

Yes, it's the Matchbox kit - but Revell did not do a good job at promoting the optional parts!

Howard of Effingham

from the newark show yesterday [held at southwell racecourse]

1/35 dragon 'desert rats' figures [2 boxes]
1/35 M113 individual track link set [of japanese origin]
1/35 AFV decal sets for early panzers; UK forces in gulf war 2; lebanese AFV's and tanks

the aircraft bits were mostly bargains...

1/72 airfix B-57 canberra
1/72 pegasus miles magister [RAF NF sqn hack methinks]
1/72 pegasus Boulton Paul P111A

several decal sheets i didn't have. i also found a good but short photo book on axis panzers for £1

all in all a good show. hey even OGL was seen there, though quite what he wants a special hobby C-60 for was
anyones guess,  ;D ;D

Got a bunch of those in my stash (Revells and Matchbox boxings), the turrets are not very good ---

The Postman brought two very different flying boats today, both 1/72:
Airfix Grumman Widgeon/Gosling
Revell BV222 "Wiking"

The Widgeon could almost be a lifeboat/tender for the BV222 ;D

The Widgeon really needs stronger main landing gear legs, they bend badly post-build, but I'm not sure that SMC or anyone does white metal ones.

I've built two of them in my time but while it's a lovely looking aircraft having the wheels at funny angles detracts from things somewhat.

Don't you get the -5J and the prop driven -5  in the same box? Mine was like that.

No, just the one.  But the 5J can take jet or prop engines according to what I've read.
BTW, could you not use wire to make the Widgeon u/c?

The prop version comes with optional length wings.  ;D Mine's an LS kit so is yours a different manufacturer?

I guess wire would be an option for the Widgeon main gear, it's a tad small though so could be fiddly.
