So doing a clean out of models from the shelf not deemed worthy of current standards.
Whilst doing it, broke the Pak 40 out of an old Italeri 234 build.
This then spawned an idea. A further rummage around the spares for inspiration found a 120mm Mortar, well 1 thing into the other lead to this

So after a bit of plastic card work, we ended up here

Go with more stores, such as the baseplate and spare bipod

....a complete repaint

.. and back on the shelf ;D

That works!

One thing that springs to mind is a hinged anti-grenade cage, like on the 234/1. Perhaps not as useful on a mortar carrier, but would look pretty cool.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Simple yet very effective. Who knows, maybe it would fool a JMN?

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Great refurb ! Simple but very effective. The new details and paint look perfect. Nice work !

A little surprised by the interior layout.....does it drive backwards or was it designed like that ?

Yup, the 234 could be driven in either direction. It was designed as a scout vehicle, so needed to be able to make a quick getaway.

My only albeit minor criticism is the location of the machine gun.  It makes it difficult for right-handed users to fire forwards.  As I know the sights cannot be moved, as they are normally on the right of the mortar, it makes it difficult to put it on that side.   Perhaps a clamp to put it on top of the mortar itself when required?

Spot on there about the MG location. Being a lefty shooter.. perfect for me !!
it was tacked on for the photo without much thought.

Interesting point though.. where would it go, perhaps forgo a permanent mount and just hook the bipod over the front armour plate on an as required basis.
