Or both, coupled with weathering since the AF doesn't keep all their planes inside

Nor do the Marines, there are dozens of these shelters all over the ramp at Yuma but I think the F-35B's are kept inside a hanger as I didn't see the other two that were supposed to be there.

Probably.  Not every base, especially Guard bases, is lucky to have even popup shelters.  Unless its a major weather event, they're pretty much kept outside and exposed to the weather.

Still fugly whichever kit you buy.
;) ;)

I happen to like the look of it, but either way it's looks are sort of dictated by the parameters.  As I found out when I tried to design an alternative Harrier

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Here are some pics of the finished model I completed a few nights ago.

Chris, what kit is that one?  Italeri 1/72?  Any comments on it?  Go together well?

The kit is the Italeri 1/72 kit.

It was a bit tricky round the intakes and forward fuselage but went together pretty well.

As for the exterior colour callouts, forget them. They are way wrong.

I sprayed with Gunze Sangyo H301(engine grey)(dark grey) and H305(gunship grey)(lighter grey). I toned down the RAM panels with a heavily thinned overspray of Gunze H301. I then sprayed with some Johnsons Klear and a very tiny amount of aluminium paint.

It'll be nice when it's painted.....

Not a criticism of your model Chris, it looks great as a model, but the RW 'colour scheme' with all those light grey 'panel lines' looks TERRIBLE! I hope the RAF camouflage theirs in grey/green, or maybe that lovely all-over green they painted the Harrier GR5s in.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Evan and Greg (BTS) have told me that the 'in-service' colour will be a camo of some sort -- not like how they are at the moment.

Which means the RN & RAF birds will be Grey over Grey of some sort........................................
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.
