Just to muddy the waters another F-35 kit(s) announced this time Kittyhawk doing all 3 types in 1/72nd !!!

Bring 'em on.  I will buy the first B that hits the shelf.

I want a C.

Cross-kit the long winged 'C' with the VTOL 'B' and make a 'D'.  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I sort of wondered why they never made the 'B' catobar capable with the associated nose gear.  It would seem to me a far easier way to get a heavily loaded aircraft off the deck if the ship didn't have a ski ramp, which none of the Marine carriers do ---

I was having a look at the plastic last night, nice and crisp mouldings as usual from Italeri.  Makes me wonder about all the protruding panel edges though --- I'll have to sand those all the way down to practically nothing when I make a start at it.

Am I right in thinking the FAA should be getting the F-35B [eventually]? If that's the case I will probably try to get hold of the 1/72 Fujimi kit in due course.

Yeap as kitnut says hang fire on the F-35B for now as we had KittyHawk announce all three types in 1/72nd yesterday, and i wouldn't be surprised to see others announced at the toy fairs this year.

Damn, was my thinking that obvious?

I suppose you could also build the much needed two seated trainer "E" version?  ;)

Yes, the FAA is scheduled to get the B.  Plan was first for the "B" V/STOL version, then the plan switched to the "C" carrier version for as bit, then went back to the "B".  Made designing the carriers tough.
