2014 Whiffie Awards Info Thread

Cheers guys.  

Ok, so tonight I started doing a bit of jiggery pokery with the categorys, threw in some maths, gained a headache which I cured with a large JD and coke.

As always with the Whiffies, aircraft are the main attraction and as I stated earlier I wanted to include everyone that was nominated.

This meant that, for instance, Best Alternative Markings had 19 entries.

Now 19 entries would be a slight headache for anyone to vote on. So I`ve split this in half and we now have 2 sections, Best Alternative Markings Pre 1970 and Best Alternative Markings Post 1970 which brings it to 10 and 9 entries respectively. While still large, it should be easier for everyone to navigate both sections.

The only `exception to this rule` came when it come to sorting out the Kitbash. There just is no way around it and trying to split them in half. The way forward on this category I think is to give members 2 votes, a 1st and second choice.

Anyways..., here now are the categorys.

Best Helicopter - 2 entries (I could not think of a section to add these two so they are going head to head)

Best Alternative Markings Pre 1970 - 10 Entries

Best Camo - 5 Entries

HOG Award for the most original idea  - 4 Entries

Best Jet Pre 1980 - 10 Entries

Best Jet Post 1980 - 9 Entries

Best Single Engined Prop - 10 Entries

Best Multi Engined Prop - 9 Entries

Best Armor Wheeled - 4 Entries

Best Armor Tracked - 6 Entries

Best Scratchbuild - 4 Entries

Best Kitbash - 13 Entries

Best Sci Fi - 9 Entries

Best Ship - 7 Entries

Best Figure - 4 Entries

Best Auto - 8 Entries

Best Dio - 4 Entries

Best Miscellaneous - 2 Entries (Again, like the Helicopters, there was no where else for these to go_

Best Artist/Profiler - 8 Entries

The `Academy Choice` Award - TBC

`Top Gun` Award - 9 Entries (This award in effect replaces the `Whiffie of the Year` award. Best of the best and all that....)

Hope this all makes sense and if not...., try a couple of shots of JD because that helped me out alot.......

What's the HOG award? I know what Hogwarts is...

The HOG award is a memorial award for the most original idea (which was the original category name).  HOG was a member of the site who passed away and had won numerous Whiffie awards.  His builds were inspiring to many Whiffers so I renamed the category in his honor.

Houston....., we may have a problem.

As I sit here typing away, my desktop is making a hell of a racket. It has also become very slow and some programs do not work. It is 7 years old and had a lot of high useage/abuse from the kiddies.

So it`s off to the PC shop tomorrow for them to work their magic.

I`ll find out how long it`s going to take but the 2014 whiffies may have a delayed start.

Luckily I backed everything up on my work desktop just in case so i can do it from there if needed.

I`ll let you know when I have more info.

Admittedly I`m posting this from the office PC, but the missus has informed me that the black box has returned so we will fire her up, (the PC, not the missus), tonight and see what happens.
