Might use those for a RAC for my Cataphract, unless there is a local dealer.

Old Wombat

Just a note on Trackers & tail-sitting from an ex-Tracker Whacker; when unloaded & sitting on the hard-standing they rocked back onto their tail bumper-wheel in anything stronger than a stiff breeze.

Nice looking Grummbly, Mr Mon..... erm..... Ape, Sir!

Well she's finally finished. Got a bit sidetracked by the Invader (more of that later). Posted pictures on a seperate thread .

Librarian

A couple photos of progress on the Invader. Gunners cabin has gun stations cut out of the fuselage sides and new floor (needs some more sanding as visible in the photos). Redesigned the weapons bay, as well as a new nosecone with a cannon port:

NOT one of mine....way too good but this is very much what I have in mind, an updated/uparmed version of Jan Zumbach's plane from the Biafran conflict. The hard part is locating decals :banghead::

Librarian

Some progress shots. Put a new roof on the rear glasshouse with a flexible gun...can be swung port/starboard:

Not much new in the cockpit, just a new seat and ammo drum for the forward gun:

Carrying a couple of 2000lb-ers. A little far-fetched but I couldn.t resist:

The mark 84s will chase 'em out of their bunkers then knock 'em down with the guns!

Kendra/Robynn will enjoy the 4,000lb load...

Apologies, no real update but just a mega whinge about this kit. I seem to be picking them. This is a first generation Monogram issue yet the fit is diabolical. Has anyone else built this model? Monogram kits are usually good and reliable but the amount of cutting, filling and sanding is remarkable; worse as the detail is all raised. I did read once that the molds were done by Koster with the intention of producing it as a vacuform. This, if true, may explain the fit problems. I'll post some photos when I've made some progress.

Librarian, I have not built the kit, but would like to offer some ideas for the engines, have you thought about installing turboprops to replace the radials?

Very much so. Problem is I have none in the stash and only moths in the bank . Heritage do a Piper Enforcer conversion but I'd need two and that's expensive. I could try scratchbuilding.... Any advice would be very welcome.

If you make the prop blades yourself make them out of one piece of plastic. I laminated the blades for the super Blackhawk and now they are warping out of shape. I may have to make completely new ones.

If you make the blades yourself, make them out of thin brass sheet and just twist them.  If you cover them with a spinner, no one needs be the wiser.

Alternatively, you could use one of the various sets of 1/48 props out there in resin.   There should be some of a suitable size and shape (even big 1/72 ones would more than likely work).
