LF for 1/72 B-17 tail turret - just the gun part, not the gunner's cockpit under the tail from an "F" or a "G", I think.  Need a ballish shaped twin gun system for a tail turret on another project.  So, if anybody has one spare or the tail off a wrecked model, can I please have it?

As usual, I will pay postage costs to downunder.

I might have one but I'm not really sure just what part you're talking about !

I believe they were called "Cheyenne" turrets?  Basically the ball part where the guns are mounted in the picture below:

OK I'll check. My kid half-started a B-17 a few years back and I ended up using the tail for another project....as long as I can find it !

IIRC all Gs had the Cheyenne tail turret but only some Fs did. Not sure who does models with Cheyenne turreted Fs though.

I think the matchbox 1/72 kit came with a choice of two tail gun fittings.......one was the Cheyenne version.....

I haven't found it yet and not sure if it's a ball or not anyway. Couldn't you just cut the end off a blunt tank/ bomb and cut some slits in it to put the guns in ?

I've got an Academy B-17 which has a choice of tail guns, the Cheyenne being one of them.  I think it's the 'G' version but don't quote me on that.  I have a feeling the Airfix 'G' also has this option, this is the reboxed Academy kit I'm talking about, not the original boxing.  As an aside, I wonder what happened to that Airfix original B-17G kit ---

They lost it under a huge pile of rivets at the old Airfix plant......  ;D

I have two boxing's of the current Revell B-17 which has the Cheyenne version as an option. I will have to do a quick recap of my intended builds for them to find out if I will have a spare, I think I will, and if I do you have the spare.

Thanks.  Most appreciated.  I've been thinking about scratchbuilding as suggested but not had much success figuring out what to use.  I suppose a ball of some kind the same size but finding one?

I don't have any B-17 kits to raid, unfortunately. A blunt-nosed bomb or drop tank would be my first thought, followed by the end of a pen/pen lid if I couldn't find an appropriate spare. Plenty of pens with moulded hemispherical ends about.
