Any progress here? I found a Matchbox Mystere IVA in my vault, too, and it lends itself to wear a Red Star... Would love to see what becomes of the project here.

Slight progress. I sanded it down, fixed some glitches, then re-sprayed it with Humbrol Aluminium. Unfortunately, the spray paint was acrylic and I remembered just too late that I'd overpainted some panels with enamel silver to try to save the original paint job. There seemed to be some reaction going on between the enamel and the acrylic, so I've left it few days to see if anything develops. So far, touch wood, nothing has.........

Some progress. The paint apparently hasn't reacted, so I've started putting silver enamel back on leading edges and selected panels. Done the topsides tonight, undersides to come. Also started painting the canopy frames. All fingers duly crossed....

Acrylic won't react with enamel if the latter is some age.

Small update: I've agreed to stay on at work until 30th April doing half-days and writing manuals at home. Unfortunately, the manuals are turning out to be much more work than I thought, so I'm not going to get much time for modelling until I finally leave. However, that WILL be on 30th April, so there will still be ample time to finish this afterwards, given that the TB doesn't end until 27th May.

Okay, well trying to make this thing look good has reminded me of why I gave up on it in the first place. I've painted it and painted it and it still looks rubbish: the lastest thing is that the filler on the spine has now somehow managed to affect the paint on top of it so the alumininum is patchy...

So, I'm giving up on it again. However, I have another suitable project in the to-do list, so watch out for a new thead shortly....

Sad to hear that this is a dead end - I was curious about the outcome, I found the idea/concept very good.

Well, I have a leftover Mystere IVA in the stash, maybe...
