The picture width shouldn't be more than 500 pixels or so. Otherwise I haven't had problems uploading pics.

It also needs to be less than 1MB. The first pic I uploaded was larger than this, I just about managed to work out what the German text box was alluding to. Next ones where smaller, and worked fine.
