If you get the 16 Spitfires from the 70th anniversary Battle of Britain fly past plus a few Hurricanes, you can get 30 Merlin's in formation.

Hot of the press: RAF Waddington.

We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday 21st August 2014 the last two remaining airworthy Lancaster bombers, PA474 flown by Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and FM213 flown by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum will fly in to RAF Waddington where they will be joined by the famous delta wing Vulcan Bomber XH558.

Pull a sickie and grab your cameras ;D

All I need to do is lie to the SWMBO and tell her I have a last minute business trip, get me some airfare from Canada to the UK, learn to drive on the right side, get a sleeping bag, take 5,000 pictures, fly back and beg for forgiveness. Easy?

Unfortunately the chances of a reciprocal visit to Canada from PA474 are next to zero. Seeing as the RAF get nervous when ever she crosses the Bristol Chanel. Let alone any other possible long distance flight over water.............................

10 years away at the very least.............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Nice idea but considering the inter service rivalry between the RN and RAF.........Theres more chance of hell freezing over before the RAF trust the navy with one of its most prized possessions.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Pity there's no catapult, they could have flown her off!  Now wouldn't that have been spectacular?  ;D ;D

With that length and width of deck and enough wind over the deck they might not have needed a cat. If Doolittle could fly B-25s off the Hornet............

What's the difference between a 60 year old Canadian Lancaster and a F35 ?

The F35 can't fly the Atlantic

Strange comment, it can fly over the Atlantic as well as any Tornado or Typhoon ---  and will do ---

The Lanc BTW, had to land at Gander, then Iceland before making it to the UK afaik
