Not wanting to throw a spanner in the jet turbine, but the German engines you have used as a basis for your conversion are a LOT, and I mean a lot, smaller than the Welland and Derwent used by the RAF.  I know this because I tried to fit Derwents to a Horten 228 and had to rebuild the entire aircraft, ending up with just the outer wings left.  Wellands would also be longer than you appear to have made them.

Yes, yes, I know, it's a whif, but as a great man once said "y' canna change the laws o' physics Jim!"

Thank you devilfish. Did you notice that the Jumo engine pods I am using are 1/48 scale?  The model is 1/72 but the engines are coming from a 1/48 model. There is quite a difference between 1/72 and 1/48. I will double check my math and check with my calipers when I get back to my bench. Web sources show the welland around 43 inches in diameter and the Allison about 29 inches wide, but not sure if that includes the exhaust ports, and 37 inches high.

Boy she's coming along nicely now eh ? Great stuff. I was a little skeptical at first, but now I see it together with the wing and it looks right !

Sorry, no, I didn't notice that.....

Have you calculated if the difference in engine weight will make it a tail sitter?

Fred

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I have been thinking about weight and balence quite a bit. Although the wellands are lighter than the Allison's, the pipes will add some of that back. They are also farther forward which will help. In plastic it will likely be a tail sitter, so shot will be added.

OK,  No worries devilfish. Yes 1/72 jumo pods would have been way too small. Proceeding as planned.

Major join complete.  Carpet monster got my nose cone, had to use a DH.88.

Matchbox cockpit was horrid with just a floor and seat.  Added package shelf behind seat and instrument panel (not shown).  Lots of lead weight in the pods and nose.

New nose from the DH.88.  Fitted upside down and lots of sanding. Guns to be added.

Underside.  Pipes will be restored to natural metal, with some high temperature discoloring.

Jet pipes.  Think I will delete the drop tanks- a wee bit close to the jet pipes  :o

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks bloody good with the DH88 nosecone, very sleek.
