Thanks a lot. The Hurricane came OOB with a three-bladed propeller - and for the Polish one I had fitted one, anyway, because it perfectly fits into the model's time frame. But I expected the fabric wing version Mk. I to come with a fixed wooden prop, too! Maybe it comes with another Airfix kit?

Eh? Mine came with both 2 and 3 bladed props.

Mine does too, box number A02067 it is.

That's funny. Mine only had a three-bladed prop, and no mention of options - I already got rid of the box, but the instructions have "A01010" as kit number? This box only allows two aircraft from the same squadron to be built (typical DG/DE/Wihte/Black), just with different individual codes ("C" and "G"). Maybe an export offering or special early edition?

A01010 is a Hawker Hurricane Mk1 but not the really early Mk1 which is what box A02067 is.

Hmpf!  Obviously got the 'wrong' kit (at least a different one than originally intended) - but the result is nevertheless fine for me.
Thanks a lot for the clarification!

Not to worry Dizzyfugu, the combination that you have used is possibly correct for an early batch of the metal wing version so could easily be correct if Poland had received Hurricanes, regardless this is whiff world so you can do what you like and you have as always done superbly!

Actually, it seems that your model is potentially correct.
It is unclear how exactly L2048 looked like, as it was never discharged at Gdynia and sailed back to the UK.
Therefore, we do not know were the wings covered with fabrics or metal.
It is also unclear which propeller did it have, but documents from September 1939 shows clearly it had Merlin III engine, which suggest three blades.

We can, however, check how this plane looked later on, as it was sent to Finland and was used as HU450.
Unfortunatelly, there are pictures of this plane that suggest it had night-day bottom:

It is unclear whether it received it before, or after sending to Poland in August 1939.

hope that helps... :)

Beauty. Looks awesome in those colours. Always nice to see your build pics as well....I guess the OOB routine is too easy for you eh ?

I found a sketch of L2048 which depicts it in typical RAF colors, Dark Green/Dark Earth, just with Polish roundels - and it looks like an early, two-blade wooden propeller?

This one is also featured ina decal sheet!

And here's a built one - not really spectacular :

The splinter scheme is still a bit of SF, but plausible, nevertheless - that makes this Whif idea so nice. Wenzel did a very good job with the profile.

Well.... yes! It has been a LONG time since I built something OOB, or even did an original livery.  ;)
