Popped into Hendon today with my two little `uns and didn`t realise the model show was on.  :banghead:

The What If table looked great and it was nice to put a few faces to names. Well done lads.

Just got home from the Hendon Show and what a warm welcome from Martin & the lads.
As a newbie to this I didn't expect the comments given to my builds from the other Whiffers. The 1/72 Lockheed Neptune was supposed to be my creation of turboprop with a pair of long nosed T-56s with contra-rotating propellers (Frog Shackleton kit) ran out of mat black so I painted them satin black ((a bit too glossy for me). I used a shaker can of dark earth for the upper surfaces and another shaker can of grey primer. Both cans were almost empty, but the finish was compared to something the USAF used in Vietnam. Another Whiffer thought it was a drone, but the greatest compliment was it looked liked a concept model produced from the manufacturer. I thought the MAD boom might have given the hint of ASW.,although looking at a picture of the RB-69A, it does look similar. Might need to add some more bumps and details.
My Spitfire with the invasion stripes felt at home next to the real world Lancaster. The 1/48 Mustang lost its canopy. The kitbash front end F-16B and rear end taken from a toy SR-71 got a Wow. May need to retouch some of the silver paint work and add more decals. Where I have used filler and rubbed down looks like another gun on the other side.
A great day our, thanks again.

Yep, good day out (never seen the Museum so busy - lots of young families and other 'civilians' there), great to see everyone and a good 'spread' on the SIG table.

Well done (again) for organising the slot, Martin.

Some photos to follow in the next couple of days.

Yup great show even if I was thoroughly knackered after Rad's party the night before. Pictures of that are under going scrutiny of the Lord Chamberlain's Dept at the moment  (you have to be of a certain age to get that). Nice to put some new faces to names and especially good to meet up with Alan all the way from Australia.

Only problem was it took me over 3 hours to get home, should take 90 mins at most  :banghead: Got to London Bridge and the South London/Sussex side was shut for weekend track work. Had to get to Victoria via Green Park which at that time of the weekend is a pain and then wait half an hour for a train that was rehearsing for Rush Hour, not seen a Sunday train that packed before.

London was full of ladies in pink hobbling around with luggage as it was the midnight cancer charity run the night before. rad would have loved it  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Howard of Effingham

it was an excellent day out and i think that astride SMW, the hendon 2013 model show has seen one of the larger turnouts by folk from this site and those who are members of the What-If SIG.

McColm's take on a vietnam era Neptune was excellent with kitbasher's extended wing flitzer a close second.

there was plenty of postive interest from the punters especially for army of one's lads spitfire.

i guess OGL must be very pleased.

Radish

Glad you made it Narses.
Had you recovered from Lisa's sausage trick?

The house now looks relatively normal again. EPIC.

The Lord Chamberlain has "passed" the photos except for Rick's "Gladiator" outfit after someone pulled his tail  ;) :o :o
