now that you mention it, a SpecOps version fitted with a Fulton Surface-to-air recovery system would not look bad either :)
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

David J.Parkins does that set for the C-130.
By tilting the wing slightly could have V/STOL.

Snoopy II.

PS: Also useful for breaking up jousting events with a single low pass!  :o

Is there any truth in the rumour that the BAe 146 that replaced this machine is known to its users as "Woodstock"?

Aye, that be a joint Scooterman/Roger the Cabin Boy build. The Atlas Atlas!

McColm

There was a really large box waiting for me this morning, the Revell 1/72 kit arrived. I noticed that the main landing gear is seporated from the the fuselage. This might fit on the Revell 1/72 Blohm & Voss BV 222 V-2 Wiking (Viking), turning it into an amphibious aircraft.
A flying boat version of the Atlas similar in appearance to the Lockheed Sea Plane concept.

I've got an A400 and an A310 going at the moment, the two aircraft are very close to being the same size. I wonder if two CF6's would work like that too ----
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

McColm

I'm sure it would.
I might try and mount the engines at the rear like the Ilyushin ll-62/VC-10 or change the wing a Victor or Vulcan wing. The BAe Nimrod wing might be on the small side.

DarrenP

I wonder if some of the western nations currently operating non J Hercules will pick up some of the 2nd hand aircraft?

countries that spring to mind include:-

Netherlands
Poland
Austria
Sweden

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

First flight of ZM400, the RAF's first Atlas:

And not before time either!

Actually it is from what I recall, we weren't scheduled to start getting them till mid 2015, but the Turks had a funny moment and asked their production to be put back so the RAF were asked if they would like one of theirs earlier. So it is actually before its scheduled time  ;D

Anyway nice to see it in RAF colours
