A friend of mine, Les, is the area co-ordinator for the local branch of the RAF Seletar Association and they held their Annual Re-Union today not 400 yards from my house. Les asked me if I'd take some of my models along to display as he thought his members would be interested, so I filled up the odd box or two, one with military stuff and one with airliners. In the event there was only room for half of them so the military ones got the nod. Piccie of the display below, perched on top of a pool table!

The observant amongst you will note the presence of one model that the RAF only MAY have flown, although according to the Internet (and the CIA....) they definitely did.  ;D ;)

The 'disaster' bit of the tale was that as I was loading the original PR19 into the box I dropped it.........  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: and for the first time in its 20 year life it broke!  :o

All three legs of the landing gear snapped off, plus one nosewheel door. I was able to quickly superglue the main legs back in position, but the nose leg needed a fuse wire strut added and I still haven't found the missing nose gear door, but it'll be easy to scratch up another one.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I suppose you mean the BV 141, don't you?  ;D
And I hope your most important model will be sound again soon.

Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

That was some box! Let us know the outcome of the corrective surgery.

Kit's idea of a box, to the rest of the world is a shipping container!!

Actually you're dead right, the military stuff was in the smaller box. I didn't unpack the airliners, they were in the BIG box that I don't think any of you lot have ever seen :)

The PR19's OK, I just have to make a new nosewheel door from some 15 thou and paint it.

It was indeed. One guy said 'I didn't know Airfix made so many kits!'  ;D

I had to update his knowledge of the plastic kit market.....

I find it interesting that people still call "all" kits Airfix even when they're not.  I remember my Mom saying she'd get me an Airfix kit when actually what she got me was a Frog or Revell one.  It's like calling a vacuum cleaner a "Hoover" isn't it

It is, but I think Airfix deserves the honour.

After 20 years it probably deserved it, yes.

Maybe we should throw it a 21st Birthday party at the 2015 Telford Show?  ;D ;D ;D :drink:

i think that is a very good idea kit indeed. maybe it [they as there are three of them at different stages of its career] they ought to be part of a 'meteor model meet' [like the tiger meet only with longer wings  ;) ] as part of the wiff display at SMW2015.
