I noticed recently that there is another What If site on the net; Beyond the Sprues.  Is there any relationship between these two sites; they both deal with What ifs.

I find both sites very helpful and full of ideas.

I just stay here. I don't have time to peruse two sites....besides, I've never been a fan of taking your toys out of the sandbox just so others can't play with them  :thumbsup:

And I've never been a fan of site administrators vandalizing user profiles just for their own amusement--as a site admin myself elsewhere, I was mentored in the "Servant Leader" tradition which holds that site staff are there to SERVE their users, not rule them like manor serfs and see them as living toys to be played with or disposed of at the slightest whim.

You might say this quote summarizes, IMO, the best mindset to have when running a forum:

Quite a few of the people on here are also members on BTS. But nobody holds that against them  ;D

Regardless of how or why BTS came about,theres plenty of room on the web for more than one site dealing with our chosen interest.
To my knowledge there isn't any real bad feeling between the two sites at any level. Long may that be the case.
I always hope for the best.

Being a member on both this and the BTS, I would say they compliment each other more than being competition.  BTS doesn't just do 'What-If's' either, regular OOB builds are just as prevalent and encouraged ----

But a lot of former members of our brotherhood are more or less permanent members on BTS now. Mainly from the American branch interestingly.

Its all down to personal choice. Some people feel comfortable here, others feel the same about BTS. Others find both sites fit their interests.

Theres no need for any one to get on the soap box any more. Let things go on as they have done. in peace and quiet.

I am a member of both.  They compliment each other IMHO.  The Internet is a big place, loads of room out there for everybody.

Ditto!

(And two of us in this little group are also Australians.)

Wes,

By & large the answer is "Yes, there is a relationship".

Unfortunately one brought about by disagreements between some members on this site. However, I have witnessed both sets of Admin's encourage others to be active members of both sites. There may be some issues with the Admin members of each site being on the other (I don't actually know, nor do I care) but both are broadminded enough to understand that;
1) what's done is done & it is better to accept the new state than whinge about it;
2) the internet is big enough for both of them; &
3) in some ways the two sites complement each other & improve the reach of Whiffery.

Personally, I think that this is where this discussion should end.

Well I'm admin here and I'm a member of both.

As far as I'm concerned "it's a big old world and there's room for everyone"  ;D

I'm going to lock this thread now as I think those who want to say anything have said it.

There is just a very slight possibility this thread could revive some peoples feelings and the thread has served its purpose by making people aware that the site exists and indeed is rather complimentary to this site as mentioned.

Lots of people here post over there and the same builds and/or profiles can appear on both sites which shows that both sites have a healthy attitude IMHO.

As said there's room for all of us and if either site (or any site for that matter) can persuade more modellers to think outside the box sometimes then more power to their elbow.

If anyone wants to take umbrage with my decision then please PM me and I will try and explain my reasons more fully.

Thanks a lot

Chris
