Well, it's not really news - rather the total opposite, a "blast from the past" a.k.a. "kit zombies". 

But I just found out/received note that the vintage VEB Plasticart kits from GDR times (many 1:100 airliners, but also some 1:72 aircraft and exotics like a 1:25 Sojus spacecraft) are still (or again) in production, and you can get them directly from the manufacturer:

Splendid - and reasonable prices I see. 

Those have always been rich whiff-fodder. I wonder if they're making them of softer plastic?
