I prefer in my blog rather than have pictures all the time, just talking about what i'm up to where models are concerned is more fun and perhaps is more of a stimulus for the minds of those that reads my words on a global basis.

hmm, looking forward to Huddersfield I have two fujimi UK  'tooms and a  hase' F3 to pick up from our Thorvic  

they will get um the HP treatment, well one of the 'tooms will do the other and the Tonka just go into the stash.

also this week I have received a very poignant issue #155 of the Handley Page Newsletter that has carried extensive tributes to the late and greatly
missed Harry Frazer Mitchell [he was a member of IPMS[UK] Farnborough branch] who died last year a few days before SMW2014. harry was the genius
of an aerodyanmicist behind the BAe Hawk as well the HP115, amongst other things and an all-round nice chap whom I met several times.

and I note that the eminent and excellent historian Sir Martin Gilbert died this week. he is perhaps my favourite modern historian as he wrote the best ever
single volume works on the First World War [I am on my second copy of this book having 100% dog-eared the first] and the Holocaust, and was also the
official biographer of Sir Winston Churchill.

both men are much missed by myself.

And thanks for the tip re: the historian Sir Martin Gilbert. I'll have to check into those volumes !

Although I did find his works on Churchill and the Holocaust somewhat skewed. But yes, a fine historian and a surprise I noted no obi on BBC.

his single volume on 'the holocaust-the jewish tragedy' is the work of his I was referring too. it cannot be beaten in terms of depth and quality of content. it was the single work that made just how awful the holocaust was real to me.

I have steered clear of his works on Churchill as he [Churchill] was never my favourite character from history.

hmm, a RR Spey powered RF-101 two seater. you are right! I wonder if a rather bulging RAF 'Toom recce pod could be 'semi conformally' fitted under the fuselage too. one to try captain!

I will check the beer out later, when I set off 'ome in about 15 minutes time or so.  and probably about 2100hrs.

Why not?

The M'box version of the pod, the only one available from a major kit IIRC, is split horizontally and the lower half makes a good stand-alone pod on its own. That's what I used on the original Meteor PR19a. I tapered the tail end to fit the flat part of the Meteor's fuselage, but the Voodoo is much longer of course.

both of us are out on the beers tonight.   , etc!

anyhow the beer fest at the uni'is about to open for its 3rd and final night, there are 120+ beers to chose from. I shall have 4 or 5 pints, call it a night
[whilst the lads enjoy their curry's in 'uddersfield] and make it 'ome and be ready for a 0600hrs pick-up for fast   transport to 'uddersfield on the
morrow.

anyhow its Monday morning and usually i'd be in school now but its half-term this week so it feels pleasantly odd.

the uni' beer fest' was great, but as explained to several at 'uddersfield.... DON'T mix beer and pork crackling. it was nearly fatal and i'm glad the
perch I had at the fest' was near a bin. the throat still hurts a bit.

the items that I got at Huddersfield will be useful. I have long wanted to do a F-16/J79 in Singaporean AF markings and have wondered about other options
over the years that a F-16/J79 could be. a Luftwaffe one given all the F-4's they had could be an idea as I wonder if the F-4F and RF-4E J-79s would have been reusuable in F-16/J79s with modification is an idea. so cheers again to chris payne!  

I think i'll get some modelling done this evening when I get in from uni'

hmm, this week has been a bit better on the modelling front. the props for the RAF AC-47K are nearly finished.

and the 1/35 bug I have has returned with a vengeance as I have started painting and doing three baseplates and I have no models for them.

well not quite as the one that I was gonna use for a diorama set in Germany in late 1945 does have a 1/35 opel truck and kubelwagen ready.
this was edged with black enamel thinned down and spatters went everywhere.

hmm, last week had its low points but its last week now and well I can quit moaning about it.  

the weekend acquisition of another airfix lifeboat is a winner as I can now do a whiff I've wanted to do since it came out. nick

as most people will know the RAF's Maritime Branch was disbanded some years back in the 1990s I think. what-if it was still around in 2015?  

well, some 'cut and shut' work on a pair of 'boats will do the job allied to a new superstructure and a bit of armament in the shape of a 40mm bofors gun up
front and various other mod's  

glad to see in the photos martin h [ aka OGL ] took at the Peterborough show last sunday there are several photos of my two luft'46 dornier do-335's. they were making a show appearance even if I wasn't! I hope folk enjoyed them. they are the ones I was building last june in this 'ere blog.
