A helicopter that was an April Fool's joke

I'm not sure if anyone here ever saw this, or had heard of it, but in 2009, there was a youtube video of the Hotelicopter.

In the caption below, there was no mention that it was some kind of April 1st prank, so a lot of people bought into the idea that it was on the level, that it was serious, and according to this news station, some still do.

Guess some people don't have much of a sense of humor, or as quite credulous.

Here's the Wikipedia page on it:

Now, all pranking aside, this might make for an interesting build project, as I believe that there may be a number of Mi12 kits out on the market, some long out of production.

A number of Mil V-12 kits?

Only two I can recollect right off, Anigrand resin 1/144 and A-Model 'Amonster' fibreglass + injection moulded in 1/72. Both $$$£££€€€

Well, I wasn't sure how many, so I covered it with "a number of kits", and since 2 is more than one, I guess I was being technically right.

There were a number of Soviet aircraft modelled by one concern behind the Iron Curtain either in the 60s or 70s, and these were basic kits, one of which was the Mi10K, as well as the Mi10 itself, and, along with a Tu114, were the only models of this manufacturer that I built.

I forget the name of the manufacturer, but wouldn't they have had a kit of the Mi12, but were forgotten about with the passage of years?

VEB did the Mi-6 (1/87)and Mi-10 (1/100), but not the V-12.

So as the V-12 used two engine/transmission/rotor assemblies from the Mi-6/10, I suppose you
could start with two of those and add a fuselage.  ;D

BTW the VEB 1/25 Vostok is a nice kit.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Thanks.

Hadn't thought to look in Hannant's yet.

But, those are a bit dear in price.

It'd be kind of an expensive project to engage in.

Did a bit of digging, and found a VEB Mi10 kit, and a Zvezda kit of the Mi6, and both are in 1/72, which, as those are large helos, would make for generous sized models, and the Hotelicopter something of a monster and shelf monopolizer.

PR19_Kit

Are you sure the VEB Mi10 is 1/72? They used to do one in 1/100 and even then it was pretty big.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I was mistaken.

But, I did find quite a few Zvezda Mi`17s, and a Kopro Mi8, among others.
