Somewhat delayed by the sheer number of photos I spammed but here is what I got from the Friday at RIAT this year. Have to say I was incredibly impressed with the Italian national display team. I thought they made everyone else (reds included) look rather ordinary. Here is a small selection:

Awesome pics there, thanks for the link.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thanks for the kind words all. It took on average 20 photos to get the ones I have uploaded. Reviewing them took aaaages  :banghead: Need to learn some better trigger discipline.

Haha. I'd have been a crap film photographer. Charles Brown's books have always impress me but even more so since I've been taking my own pics.

Back on the 21st and 22nd of July, me and mrs kitnut went up to Cold Lake to see the bi-annual airshow. The star of the show was the F-22's, one flying each day. Our plan was to walk the static on the Saturday, and sit back and watch the flying on the Sunday. It didn't quite go to plan though, Saturday was quite warm even if it was windy. Nice day to walk around and look at everything on display. Sunday though we woke up to miserable weather, raining, windy as heck, and a cold wind blowing off the lake (there's a reason the town is called Cold Lake  ;) ). It was so cold that mrs kitnut said she needed to get a toque where we eventually found some being sold by the National Guard crew from Oregon from under their F-15. The flying was delayed by almost two hours and even the para-jumpers which start off the show took off in their C-130J, it soon disappeared into the muck only a few hundred feet off the ground. They didn't jump --- and soon came back down in the Herc'. So after sitting around and getting wet, we decided it wasn't much fun so we left early and drove home (about 6 hours drive).

Anyway here's some pics of the Saturday walk around.

Soon as we cleared the security tents, we met up with this C-5M. And as I'm planning on building one of my 1/72 C-5 kits as an 'M', took special notice of some of it's features. And after walking through it I noticed it doesn't have an over-head crane.

Next was a couple of other USAF heavies.

The AWAC had some interesting lumps and bumps which I've not seen before.

Further on we came up to some Canadian aircraft, this CC-150 was the first.

Then this Sea King,

There were a couple of other helicopters nearby, Griffons

Then I spotted this BAE Hawk CT-155,

and near that was a CT-156

Another USAF heavy, B-52H

And a pair of F-16 aggressors,

Some more RCAF aircraft

Then there was these two, which turned out to be full size replicas, as you might tell by the Spit's undercarriage

And some others that were there

Under this F-15 was where we the the toque the next day.

I was keeping an eye on the flying display as we walked around, there was this C-130J the para-jumpers were using, the photos turned out to be the only usable flying pics I took all weekend  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Apart from this one

and other aircraft that did fly

Some really good shots there mate, many thanks

The finish on the F-22 is quite intriguing the way it reflects light and changes "colour". Be a pig to replicate. you'd almost have to have a label saying that the aircraft was modeled at this time of day, facing this direction, at this location and in these lighting conditions  ;)
