Have been wondering about this

A while ago, I purchased a cdrom on warplane patents(that's what it was titled), after looking at one of the drawings, a twin fuselage B24(a B24Z, perhaps?), but upon receipt of the disc, I found a lot more which might make for some interesting whiffs.

One of the patents was filed by a JS McDonnell Jr, and was for a pursuit airplane.

This was the same McDonnell who founded the McDonnell company, and development of this led to the XP67.

This drawing is of a plane similar to the Moonbat, but with a pair of pushers, but with the same wing/fuselage blending.

I'm not sure how to take anything from a cdrom and post it anywhere on the internet, but after a bit of google searching, I found the patent that was filed, along with a three view and a perspective drawing.

If anyone might be interested in taking this further, here is the link.

While there have been a few models of the XP67, beginning with one vac form(and that might've been the only one, I'm not sure if that is the case), and maybe something could be done, but if this could be a scratch build, it might make for an attractive model. ;)

Rareplane for the vacuformed kit, Anigrand for a resin one.

I've got a Rareplane one in the stash, Aeroclub does/did some white metal detail parts for it.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Ok.

I knew there was one, many years ago, but wasn't sure if there were any others since.

Still, the XP67 itself is fascinating(if you really wanted to try something wild, given that over the years there have been a number of home built aircraft, scaled down somewhat, and if you were sure of your skills, something like this in, say. 5/8 scale, like the P51 and FW190 homebuilts, perhaps a pair of IO180s).

But in this case, a pusher version, might be intriguing.

Czech Resin did a Moonbat in their early days too, and the whole kit only had three pieces! That was both props and everything else, all in one piece, there was no landing gear at all.

Oh yes,  and the vacform canopy.

I had one but gave it to a friend who 'Wanted to get into this resin modelling stuff'.......
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

That was kind of cruel.

Did your friend make something of it?

He's 'Still thinking about it'.......  ;)

Well, it would make sense to prepare oneself for a build project.

I've built the Czech Master one which has a couple more parts and it's on the site. Mucked the canopy up however so I had to use lateral thinking

Have the Anigrand kit in the stash as it's one of my favourite aircraft. Some people can probably remember my reaction at a Bolton show when I was told it was coming out  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
