At the moment I am working through a bunch of half started, abandoned and bits projects.
I found a box of Churchill parts left over from the Black Prince scratchbuild, 3" Gun Carrier conversion (IMA conversion, prior to the AFV Club kit.. grrrrrr ) and some parts left over from a buddies build.

Sadly the major parts missing in all the remaining arts was the suspension parts. Working with what I had I decided to work on a SP 5.5inch Medium gun, perhaps in a '46 scenario it was done on redundant Churchills as Centurions came online as gun tanks
So first up cobbled together a fixed superstructure

Then went to town drilling holes for Tichy Train rivets, to give it a bit of interest.

Initially due to lack of suspension I planned to do the "fording a stream and hide the lack of roadwheels" plan, but one of our local shops was able to supply a couple of sprues for the suspension

yahoooooo with suspension

then to paint

Then to overdoing the weathering :banghead: :banghead:

and.. dragging it back to reasonable... whew !!!

This went together over a couple of weekends.. just tardy in posting up here.. sorry about that

Cheers

Looks very good like that
Is it 1/35?
And I'm afraid I've got to show my ignorance and ask
What would be special about a 5.5inch SP?

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Wild! BTW: Is that a bottle of champagne on the right side...?

Nice weathering, too, very subtle.

I like that. Quite plausible to in my opinion. I built a few Churchill SPG's in 1/76 eon's ago when I was still an active wargammer. Back in the 70's .

I like the angular superstructure in particular, it has a TOG kind of look to it. As per the TOG 1 and 2. Maybe the old guys got onto SP's after the crisis of the early war years was over ? ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ohh, I do like that! Very nicely done.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

If your talking about the Green and brass items then they would be Halon Fire Extinguishers.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Good job.
Particularly on the commander.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Buzzbomb mate you nailed it here .. you may think you over did the weathering well you didnt ,,it looks very real and looks like its been a very dusty day and this beauty has been out playing <_<
Well done man ..very well done .

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Wow....that is gorgeous ! Love how you can take something toy like, as it looked to me with the unpainted styrene, and then end up with a miniature version of the real ( sic ) thing ! I think the weathering looks perfect too.....awesome looking tanks.

Cheers !
