I took a load of pics of the Trenton Argus a couple of weeks ago, Kit Spackman was asking for some. But they're close-up detail shots, don't think they'll be much use for the scale you're doing. But if you want any, I'll post them.

Actually, I think that was me Dave, I've got a 1/72 one on the go --

cheers,
Robert

Okay, two guys with 'kit' in their name and I go all to pot.  PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send them off.

I'll have to check those out Robert. Even just the u/c and props as the rest could be fudged. I saw somebody on the net who made one from a DC-6 I think !

I got the Santos kit out of Toronto Todd, from a store called Aviation World.  Got a Calquin at the same time too (Argentinian radial Mosquito look-a-like).  I know the Execuform kit is available (US$48 as of my February 2012 catalogue) so could be a bit more now. It's as basic as the Santos kit so I've heard, Alvis has got hold of one.

Yeah! well now you'll understand my comment earlier about the family jewels -----  :-X

The parts were made from original Bristol drawings of the u/c gear and looking at photos I have of the RW gear they look spot on.  My friend Steve Gardner had taken a whole bunch of photos of them and then sent them to me, my plan was to have a go at making my own sets --- now I don't need to ---

What I need to do now is find a suitable donor kit for some engine nacelles --- although all I really need to do is build the lower air intakes correctly.  Another build I'm planning is a Bristol Type 175MR, apart from the forward fuselage starting from just behind its cockpit, it's all Argus --

See ? I told you she looked decidedly British ! Since I can't paint the plastic, and I only have a grey instead of silver.....

I might try and make some spinners and wee props and make the turbine example on the paper. But I am running out of time here.

Thanks Rat ! She turned out rather well as a 'proof of concept'. With a slightly larger piece of balsa and the correct measurements, plus a few more tools and some smaller rod to do the gear, I think she will look quite nice !

Our job is delayed again.....ugh. So hopefully get some work done on those props today ! May try using wire or cutting them out of styrene....but that will be tough ! Maybe sand the sheet I have thinner first ?

If you're cutting tiny strips of thin plastic, you might want to try nail clippers. I managed to find a set that have straight edges, makes the job a bit easier. If the pieces are very short, as I suspect yours will need to be, you could get away with curved ones.

Ya little curved scissors might be the way to go ?! They'd put a wee bend in the prop blade as well. Hmmmm...... ;)
