interesting no S2 Buccaneer

Isn't there an S2 on the deck in the 'Carrier' display? For sure there was as I've got pics of it there.

Yeap the Buccaneer S2 and S1 are in the 'Carrier' Display Hanger, the S1 in the Reserve collection is actually an NA39 that used to be in front of the Museum.

I would like to know where the Phantom FG1 XV586 is, its the one they got back from the RAF and it was repainted back to its 892 markings as per their final deployment on Ark in 78.

If your going down to Somerset again (I guess your visiting the Helicopter Museum at Weston-Super-Mare as well ?), you should have a look at the Tank Museum in Dorset as you can go in their reserve collection hall for an hour in the afternoon and see the ranks of non-display AFVs stored from a viewing platform in in the corner of the hall. Take decent binoculars and zoom lens as its about the size of one of the Telford halls but with less lighting !

Ooh, I might have to go to this. Do you have to book?

Nick

I have been given the day off work for this so I expect to see you there!

Regarding the Saro P.531, I suspect I've seen XN332 when she was on display in the main museum about 15 years ago. I wonder if they'll have her sister ship XN334 visible as well despite the poor condition?

Has anybody been to their Model Show before?
It's on the 25th October which might make it worth a 3 day trip with the Tank Museum as well.

Yes, many times, and it's excellent.

My model club used to be a regular there in previous years and there's something very weird about talking models while you're leaning back on the leading edge of the lower wing of the World's ONLY remaining Fairey Albacore!
