The Scottish Airshow was held this weekend at it's old home of Prestwick, after a 22 year lapse.
The show took a new format with day 1, Saturday, being the flying display, centered on the sea front at Ayr, about 3 miles south of the airfield.
Day two, the Sunday (and to-day as I write) was the static display, held at the airport.

Grace (Mrs JayBee) and I were at both days as were a number of other worthies from this forum, and we had a great time.
The numbers of the general public that attended was fantastic. It is now estimated that on the Saturday there were more than 60,000 people there.
I do not think that the planners had expected that kind of response.
When it came to getting home, well Grace and I ended walking home (about 2.5 miles) and we got back to the house a good half hour before Sandy (Tojo633) and his Dad. They had parked their car with us but they relied on public transport to get back!

The show has been confirmed for 2015 and I trust that the arrangements will be better organized then. As I have said I think the organizers  will have learned a lot of lessons this years.

Final thoughts as far as the flying display went :

More Heavy Metal, and

No gap in the middle.

Now to the photos:

Nice work ! Looks like you had a lovely day for it. Alot of civvy stuff tho....but I guess it was pretty well balanced. You got some excellent shots of the Merlin and it looks like the Vulcan did quite the show !

I might say that ( other than the two aforementioned birds ) that Sunday is more up my alley....the Lanc pair must have been a real treat and the Sea King in my favourite sheme.  What's the atmospheric tester ? Dasher or ATR ? Have to look that one up....what else is dangling off of it ?

Good Grief Capn,

The Atmospheric Research Aircraft is a BAe 146, she replaces Snoopy the Herc that used to be used for that.
You know the one that had the long Barbers pole sticking out the front.

The Lancs and Spits should have arrived on the Saturday for the flying display but weather socked them in down south.

It WAS a great two days.

Now that you meantion it, I can see the big fairings under the wing and the window layout. Too bad snoopy is gone but I guess this is a pretty good replacement eh ?

You mean they didn't fly the two Lancs and '558 together? That was a lost oportunity for sure.

Terrific pics Jim, LOVE the Catalina!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
