I'm a fan of the Matilda - have been ever since I read that its armour could withstand the Panzers' weapons.  However, I felt it could be improved, so I set about to do so.
I did this a long time ago - early 1980s, I think, so only three pictures survive.

My mods were purely external ones - I mad no attempt to detail the interior, as at the time I had no idea what it should look like, and didn't want to get it wrong.

What I did:
- sloped bow armour
- sloped turret armour
- small calibre high velocity gun - I thought I'd use a 30mm, similar to the one on Fox armoured cars.
- uprated sights

The armour mods were just plastic sheet cut to fit.  The gun had lost the muzzle brake, so I used a cut-off knitting needle slipped onto the stump to extend the barrel, with pen-filler acting as the new muzzle brake and mid-barrel fume extractor (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it).

The paint was my own interpretation of desert camo - my colour choices were dictated by the paints I had at the time (that was during my penurious collegiate days).

I wanted to do the same sort of thing to a Churchill, but the price of a Tamiya model is beyond me, these days, so I plot in secret for the day I can find one.  :-)

NARSES2

I like that, it works for me
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
