A bit of duct tape and elbow grease and that'll polish out nicely.....

The usual crass comments from people in the area I see.

"It's frightening to think that the jet has passed over houses and the village school."

Well yes, they're doing that almost every day of the week and the fact that they have done it for last umpteen years is one reason WHY your little darling is able to attend such a good school......

Indeed. How many people are killed by broken aircraft landing on their heads, compared to, say, crashing their cars? More lazy soundbiting... :banghead:

The aircraft crashed in an open field. The pilot probably pointed it in that direction. And as for the aircraft flying for a mile with no one aboard, just when do people think a pilot should punch out? I think he cut it pretty close. At 300 mph he would cover 1 mile in 12 seconds.

Eye witness reports say it fell backwards out of the sky and the wing came down close by so more of pancake crash, so the pilot was never going to be able to pilot it down.

As for the rescue, well the USAF have seen the Battle of Britain Movie and being Lincolnshire they daren't risk the Yank pilot being arrested by a mob of Polish farmhands  ;D. Seriously though it would be CSAR practice as they rescued the pilot rather than the RAF, plus they can debrief him and start the accident investigation rather than risk the media gauntlet.

I've been to Lincolnshire.  There are parts of it that would benefit from having an F-15 dropped on them...

Perhaps the pilot got bored waiting for a hill to come along and dozed off?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

And of course military vehicles would also be entering the village.  The SPs have to cordon off and secure the crash site, both for the classifieds (if any) on board, as well as for the safety of the general public, and usually coordinated with the local PD.

And, oh yes, there *will* be lots of questions being bandied back and forth.  An Accident Investigation Board usually doesn't wrap up until the report weighs as much as the gross weight of the aircraft.

And the pilot gets the blame, especially if he's been killed..........

Grantham springs to mind there. Althou a 1 megaton airburst would be more effective.

It's interesting that considering (a) the propensity of military aircraft to fall out of the sky and (b) the population density of the UK that civilian casualty rate from such accidents has been relatively low over the many decades of flying that have occurred.

Grantham's o.k. Was a lot nicer when it had the old cattle market and the requisite public houses

I have convinced a few American's in my time that it will have its name changed to "Thatcherville" after a suitable time period has elapsed   ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I will happy to explain why Grantham has earned my displeasure at Telford Chris ;D  And its got nothing to do with its most famous grocers daughter.
