Here is my RN version of the Airfix RNLI Lifeboat. Built OOB with a RN-style colour scheme. I have left off the starboard side to show the interior:

Here it is alongside an almost-completed original RNLI version:

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Beauty. Looks great in the toned-down colours. Look forward to seeing some pics of the 'real' one as well !

Thanks, Peeps.

Some more pics of the "real" lifeboat below:

This build was mothballed for years when I moved to Scotland. It suffered a lot of damage in the move and I basically bunged it back together again just to get it out of the way. The photos probably flatter it a bit and I have promised myself that will build another one "properly" next year!

Nice builds Dave both of them, I remember seeing them on your site.

Whats it like to build?  I've had mine in the stash for some time, I keep picking it up and putting it back again.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks!

There is definitely an art to building this thing. The waterlining of the hull can be bit of a problem and shortly after the kit was released, Airfix asked me to produce a tutorial on how to waterline the hull so that they could send out help sheets to customers having problems trying to waterline it. You can read the tutorial here - https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/airfixtributeforum/viewtopic.php?p=105502#p105502

There can also be problems getting the hull sides and deck aligned and getting the front of the superstructure to line up with the superstructure sides. I described my build of this particular lifeboat in this thread on the ATF - https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/airfixtributeforum/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=5663 so hopefully you may get some tips from it.
