Captain Canada

Hey !

A Bristow Helicopters HMCG S-61 operating in the North Sea had a lucky day today.....engine trouble would have forced the poor bird into the drink, but thankfully, HMCS Hartlen Point, one of Canada's new Patrol Class carriers, was in the vicinity to help out.

Repairs were made in the form of two new engines from a CDN mk.6C, and the S-61 was on her way the next day.

Kit is the new Trumpeter Sea King. I chopped the front and rear ends of a second bird, to make the longer fuselage. The nose radome is the tip of a rocket.

Cheers !

Here's another view.......

I hope to finish this ship, as well as the Ketch soon. Then I'll need to make a watery base. Anybody got a good tip or two ?

Can't believe it's 1/350 ? but what's the RCN doing in the North Sea ? should the inhabitants of Hull & Grimsby get worried ?

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Quotebut what's the RCN doing in the North Sea ? should the inhabitants of Hull & Grimsby get worried ?

No, nothing to fear. You guys are with us.

We're in the North Sea protecting oil rigs and production platforms, as in my future world, the commonwealth rules the roost !

You want oil ? Come and get it !

:P

And thanks for the comments, guys !

I know the aircraft are 1/350 scale, but what about the ship?  She looks awfully tiny under those birds.

It's 350 too !

Well, kind of.........the hull is arounf 1/1200 I'd be guessing. It's from a no-name Enterprise kit I got for 2 bucks......the deck and jump are home made.

Cheers !

Fantastic work, Cap'n.  Very refreshing.    ^_^

As for creating a water base, of all the how-to articles I've read, the one in the current FSM appears by far to be the most simple method (although I'm quite sure there'll be plenty of swearing the first time I try to do it!).

LOL, What a treat Cap.

Wasn't she in the North Sea at one point acting as support ship for the Canadian submarines sea trials?

Now all you need to make her perfect is the squadron of Canadian Navy navalized Sea Gripens to be leaping off that there ramp!

geeze I can't wait to finish getting the money together to for the building materials to finish my office/model building area.
Getting back into modeling

Thanks JHM !

I've seen a few arti8cles on the water making process, but they both seemed quite difficult. I'll run out this aft and grab that mag !

And indeed you're right...she was part of the squadron during sea trials of our new subs. Always have a back-up plan, Dave.....

And if somebody would make a 350th scale Gripen, I'd gladly go with it ! But my plans are SHARs and Sea Flankers, with Merlins, Sea Kings and Lynx choppers.

I'd love to have some Kamovs as well.....but I doubt you'll ever see them in that scale !
