I said Osprey 'cause it may be easier to find than the good ole Dynavert!

Hey, what about CL-84s escorting Ospreys??

Captain Canada

Yeah, but I don't think there are any in that wee scale yet.........

I want to  see that A310 and A330 as well.

Well folks, as some of you know, I dropped this kit a while back, and was disheartened I shelved it.  Gear snapped off, fuselage cracked, cockpit fell out...  :(

Then, last week I had what alcoholics would refer to as a moment of clarity.  The scheme I should build this sucker in (hint:  ITS NOT CANADIAN, SO DON@T ASK!)

It was so blindingly obvious that I should build it in this scheme that the next morning she was pulled off the shelf and an assessment was made of her airworthyness.

As I mentioned about 6 times in this thread, the undercarriage is very fragile, nowhere near sturdy enough to support a model this size.  And after being smashed to pieces by me doing my best Gary Sprake impression, no way could I put it back together with any confidence in it.  Not without spending at least 6 million dollars.

So gear up it is.

Here are the main sub assemblies, sans gear

Shot of the underside, only 1 of the 5 gear bays remain.  I also poured a load of superglue down the inside of the fuselage seams - couldn't reach everywhere, and I remain fearful of further cracking......

Here's a shot of the engines - the kit provides options for both types of A380 engines.  I chose RR Trents, natch.

They're quite nifty little sub-assemblies, and the locating pegs are designed such that each pod will only fit in the wing position its meant to.  Nice touch.

The engine intake leading edges are a separate part, and a perfect fit into the engines meaning they can be painted silver now, then inserted into the engines when all painting is complete, saving you some nasty masking.  Another nice touch.

I'm really enjoying this at the minute.  If only they'd designed a more robust undercarriage....

Lovely kit!! Keep on... wy not a mistel A380 ? fill the cockpit windows, and fit a Typhoon above it on pylons.
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

I bought one of these a few months ago, I wanted it to complete a set with the Revell C-5 Galaxy and An-124 I have.  Just a thought, would there be a 1/144th C-17 on the market?

With the Canadian Government's penchant on buying civilian equipment and then giving it to the military, I'm playing with the idea of making my A380 into a CAF transporter with a ramp at the back for the lower deck.  That way the CAF could transport the entire Canadian Army in one go.  :)
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

No 1/144 C-17, though I keep asking for it on Revells website ;)

The thought had occured to me that you can transport an entire battalion in one go in an A380 - CC is doing his with a rear ramp as part of his mythical RCAF Transport Command.

Looking good, Nevster !

I was looking at mine last night as well.........but I had already opted to build it flying, and I'm glad I did !

Also, I've noticed some kind of wierd modelling parallel......oceans apart, but somehow, close.......here's a pic of my basement tonite......
