It's a coal mine, isn't it?

It WAS a coal mine, lots of undersea coal seams in the area at one time apparently, but now all worked out.

I saw a TV film about the place a while ago, one of the 'Abandoned Engineering' series IIRC.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

They film part of a James Bond movie there.  It was quite creepy from memory.

They didn't film on the island, just around it.

Side Projects did a video on it. https://youtu.be/1RsF0FBqfmQ

1/35 SA-N-7 Gadfly and SA-N-9 Grizzly set:

Why 1/35 scale though.

Any 1/35 scale ship that would need those would be HUGE!  :o

E.G. A type 22 frigate, for instance HMS Brazen,  would be 12 feet 3 and a bit inches long at 1/35 scale.  A type 42 destroyer (batch 3) would  be about 13 feet 2 and a bit inches long.

Stand alone models. They've done the same with other naval weapons before:

ohh that's shiney   shame no one does a 1:35 V bomber to hang them from  :banghead:   still an old Tamiya chieftain hull would be crossable as a mount

If they pantographed them down to 1/72 and/or 1/96 they'd have a much larger market.

an idea strikes   :o   use appropriate width boards ( mdf. ply etc) and just build from the deck up ! simples
it solves the fact that you could use the body as a kayak, and means that its ( probably ) just transportable

1/35 works well for small dioramas or vinagrets, not sure that's the right word  :-\

If you want 1/72nd Sea Darts, one of the RC boat suppliers does them in resin. They also do SeaCats in white metal. Got some of both.
