Ah my local Airport, well worth a visit on their monthly open days  :thumbsup:

Does it mention the story of the Lufthansa Ju 52 that got it'self impounded in Sept 1939 Nick ?

Talking of local airports. I'm going to a lecture at the local library on Wednesday on early aviation at the old Crystal Palace. Lived in the area all my life and never realised the old place had got involved with aviation

From the aerojumble stand at the Classic Fighters Airshow raising money for Stage 2 of the Aviation Heritage Centre:

Warbirds Over Wanaka 1996 and 1998 (my copies are falling apart)
Wings On My Sleeve by Eric Brown - blue hardcover, haven't checked but it's an old 'un!
Spitfire: Flying Legend by John Dibbs
Confederate Air Force by Peter R March (got this out from the library every other month as a kid!)

All except the Winkle Brown book are in beautiful condition. Very pleased!

Also bought the DVD of the last show...so I can finally watch the FW190 fly :(

concord publishing's  mini colour series  Warrior  ( British combat vehicle tracked)  got some nice action shots  some bits on developments and a 1:35 line drawing plan in it.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady

Two additions to TallEng's Library
Nimrods Genesis (love the VC10ish thing belting along just above Lake Windemere)  :wub:
and Avro Lancaster in Military Service 1945-1965, loads of interesting stuff in there :thumbsup:
for example the original simplified scheme for Four Engined Bombers post War had Dark Sea Grey
as the upper surface colour with gloss search light black underneath.
(most people will be familiar with the Medium Sea Grey upper surfaces and Gloss Search Light Black undersides)
or what about the Lancaster's used for filming the 'Dam Busters'? its all in the book  :cheers:

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

I did a lot of work at Chobham, usually on things I'm STILL not allowed to talk about.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thorvic,  the history section is enough to make me scream with frustration ( the tank development stuff from WW2  :banghead: :banghead:  )  some of the design pics are certainly chin strokingly interesting, and may send me pin wheeling of into who know what.

I found the Aeroplane Magazine's 'Flying Boats of WWII' at a big Tescos today. Full of of wonderful stuff, all the usual suspects and others you'd forgotten you knew about.

Did you know the RAF flew a Bv222 on ops until 1947?  :o

Timur Vermes "Look Who's Back". An absolute joy from beginning to end. Controversial in spades but hilarious expose about how our favourite 'tached dictator would use social media etc.

Also been reading Osprey's Duel23 USN F4 vs VPAF Mig17/19. Very interesting.
