The Fencer fits pretty much in between the Tornado and the F-111 size-wise

The Sukhoi is quite a bit larger than the F-111, which took me by surprise when I built the Hobby-Trumpeter 1/48 kits of both planes. It can tote some serious weaponry on numerous external pylons.

The early Su-24 was slightly shorter than the F-111, but the Su-24Ms onwards are a fraction longer. Both versions have a shorter wingspan. Su-24 weights are close, but not quite as high as the F-111, but it's range is much less, probably due to the fact that it's running on pure turbojets rather than turbofans.

I've got a nameless variant of the Fencer in a plastic bag, maybe I'll slap some Argentinian roundels on it..........  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

LMAO - the wikipedia article for the Su-24 is already showing Argentina on the list of users.....

....and this'll make you double-take:

I've a feeling the TrumpBoss kits are wildly inaccurate :banghead:.

Not sure, it's been a while since I've seen it, and it's 'Somewhere in The Loft'. Are the separate flaps significant?

IF this were to take place, I imagine it would be a nightmare to keep them running.  Used Russian aircraft with questionable service life left, relying on Russian spares support in a realationship that is shaky/new to start wth, funding not based on hard cash between two nations in financial trouble, first Russian fast mover in Argy service, a large complicated aircraft, massive training requirements- no WSO's since the Canberas were retired, fuel costs, etc, etc.

Would likely be a sink hole.

I've 3 things to say about this

1) It's in the Daily Express

2) It's in the Daily Express

3) It's in the Daily Express

Enough said ?

Well it does fit their preferred three lead topics.  ;D
In no particular order.................
1. The EU/Immigration.
2. Princess Diana.
3. the Falklands.

Throw in the weather or threat of the worst weather conditions ever known in the UK to be specific and you could get a job on the Express's editorial panel  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

hmm, maybe so.

there was a report about this episode of top gear in the 'i' concise edition of the independent newspaper on 29/12/14. with a more
interesting article next door on the page about the active proposal that a statue of Margaret thatcher be erected in the falklands
probably in Port Stanley. the argentine ambassador to the UK was mightily narked off about this.

yes there probably is the UK capability to reinforce the falklands garrison in a few days. but if i was an argentine commander i'd be
more scared of any RN SSN's in the south atlantic as its doubtful their ASW capability is that good against well trained RN submariners.

the RAF typhoon pilots on 1435 flight will all be combat ready and would be more than a match for anything the argentine AF could
offer most likely until reinforcements are flown in.

however, it strikes me that this thread is getting a bit too political and i'd offer shorter odds on it being shut down than the argentines
trying anything again in the falklands.  :-X
