When I see the topic I keep thinking of this,

Does anyone else do the same?

Maybe these two guys did have something to do with it?

The Spanish seem rather friendly to the Argies or they were when they wanted Gibraltar back.
Couldn't the Fencers be reworked like the ones flown by Iran?

I've got a nameless variant of the Fencer in a plastic bag, maybe I'll slap some Argentinian roundels on it..........  ;)

Does it have seperate flaps ?

Not sure, it's been a while since I've seen it, and it's 'Somewhere in The Loft'. Are the separate flaps significant?

There was a very nice 'cottage' kit by Streem (?) in 1/72 with seperate flaps etc. Far better than the Dragon/Zvezda etc kit that's done the eternal rounds. Hard to come by tho.

Well...there are four Flight 1 Ticos at Philly Navy Yard that could probably be refurbished and...leased to the RN
Wouldn't be able to help in a timely manner. Those ships have been sitting there for quite some time and are stripped of most equipment. By the time those were refurbed and ready to sail the shooting war would be over. It would take the better part of a year and a half to get those laid up Tico's re-fitted with electronics/misc. equipment and seaworthy again.

If we're going down that road, let's just refurb the JFK (also sitting in Philly) and lease her to the RN. We can lease them some Super Hornets or they can refit some Typhoon's and Tornado's for carrier duty and the RAF can train to fly from a full deck carrier. I'm sure the sight of that of the Argentine coast would give pause for thought on any crazy ideas they may have. :)

Screw it, we'll just rent the RN a Nimitz and crew with air group and pilots and call it a day. Instant carrier threat. :D

Not exactly the work of a moment, more like 2-3 years perhaps.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

A few cardboard cutouts on the deck, that should do the trick.

I've 3 things to say about this

1) It's in the Daily Express

2) It's in the Daily Express

3) It's in the Daily Express

Enough said ?

Well it does fit their preferred three lead topics.
In no particular order.................
1. The EU/Immigration.
2. Princess Diana.
3. the Falklands.

Throw in the weather or threat of the worst weather conditions ever known in the UK to be specific and you could get a job on the Express's editorial panel  quote]

It only needs a dubious connection to Nazi's or immigration [preferably all involved in the death of Diana] and you have an Express Editors dream front page story!

The whole idea/concept was more tongue in cheek than anything. Not a serious idea (although a whiffing possibility....) and with no chance of happening anyhow.

Even 2-3 years is pushing it to be honest, the Chinese have been at it now for a couple of years and are nowhere near as proficient with carrier flying as they will need to be.

But they've never operated a carrier before, so they're having to learn/invent it from scratch. The RN (not the RAF!!) has had carriers for a century.

While developing the aircraft, send the pilots over to the USN as exchange pilots and get lots of practice!

Converting Typhoon and Tornado to CATOBAR ops would take a hell of a lot longer than '2-3 years',
and it's doubtful the conversion would even be possible as the base designs were never intended for
such use.
