Back from the Northern show and managed to squeeze a couple of kits in for myself. Bit of a struggle getting them home however as I did have a lot for others *
*

Now this is a serious point. I'm afraid I'm not in a position to bring loads of kits back from show purchases for others now lads. I will bring a max of 2 back but that's it. I had a lot of kits to bring back on Monday and perhaps people forget I travel by public transport. I spent 7 hours getting home yesterday by 4 trains, 1 bus and two long walks with a load of kits plus a very heavy luggage bag. I'd been away for 10 days and I'd also picked up some belated birthday gifts. On getting home I was absolutely "creamed", indeed I felt quite rough and I still do now.

I'm sorry about this but I really just can't do it anymore. Please don't feel offended if I've brought stuff back for you in the past as I've always been happy to but I'm afraid I just can't do it physically anymore.

Apologies

Chris

Mister Craft 1/72 PZL-37B Los II and PZL P7a (Polish boxing). These are repops and will need some cleaning up but they look nice in the box. Plus they were cheap - £2.95 and £5.95. The Los will probably be Bulgarian pre their entry into the war and the P7a probably Lithuanian/Latvian/Estonian ?

Turkey is another option: the Los was considered and a serious option, but real life events denied any production or delivery. Also have one in the stash (Ma/istercraft repop, built two many years ago, though), and Bulgaria is my favorite at the moment, too, but with a twist...

Amazingly, Republican Spain was another potential customer and negotiations had apparently started, although whether this was serious or just another attempt to screw more money out of the Spanish with no intention of actually delivering, is a moot point. It'd make an interested Whiff if you re-wrote history a bit though. I've got one with that in mind, but when I'll get around to it is anyone's guess.

Republican Spain is a good option for most things as given the embargo/blockade Spain was "allegedly" under they took almost anything and everything they were offered. That's why their air force had so many singletons and pairs of differing types. Your point about them being screwed by both middle agents and producers is very well covered in Anthony Beevor's book on the Spanish Civil War which is an excellent introduction and written prior to his Stalingrad. The publishers reissued it after the success of that one.

As for the Los. I like the Bulgarian pre-war national markings, and I have a whole sheet of them in the stash. Mind you I've some Turkish markings as well, of various types from WWI through post WWII.

Gerald Howson's Arms For Spain is another eye-opener that was published in the mid-90s with access to Russian records for the first time. Unfortunately Howson died last year before completing a revised and updated edition so whether that'll ever see the light of day I don't know. The Los story was something he seemingly squeezed into the first edition at the last minute, admitting that he didn't have all the details, so that might well have been something he'd researched further.

Took advantage of my £20 voucher for rejoining the Airfix Club AND their Father's day offer to get:

2 x 1/72nd Gloster Meteor F.8s with Coronation Review decals
4 x 1/72nd English Electric Lightning F.6

All for £40 - result!

At least one of the Lightnings is slated to get Freightdog's strike conversion, since I've got some resin AS-30s which will go very nicely on that.

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks
