Just arrived from Bigcat.com.pt, 2 decal sheets of Portuguese air force squadron markings from Colorado Decals, and a Revell 1/72 Mig-21 F-13, what a beautiful kit...

Yup. The Revell F-13 is supposed to be the best option in 1:72 around.

Two airfix swifts from halifax modlers world via ebay. One more on the way from the same sourse and another three coming direct from airfix.

Isn't that a bit excessive?

I have plans for em ;) ;)

Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Swift
:banghead:
Now avaible in the UK this week (Finally !!!!)

Oooh, may get one at RIAT tomorrow.

So much for that plan.

Big H wasn't there and the only two other kit sellers there both said the same thing, 'We don't deal with Airfix any more!'..........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

There is an Academy kit in 1/72, but is very poor in relation to the Revell kit.

Not sure if its the F-13 version but Hasegawa also did what looked like an F model Fishbed. One of the options was the Iraqi one that defected to Israel.

The Academy F-13 is a cracker.

Actually no it isn't it's rubbish.  Trying to think of the whif potential and all I can come up is to graft an F-104 rear fuselage (from the intakes back) to the MiG's forward fuselage (add a radome over the MiG's nose intake of course) and keep the MiG's wings, fin/rudder and tailplane.  That assumes same fuselage diameter.

Sorry, stole the thread there but will return it to it's rightful owner now.

Arn't the Hasegawa one and the Academy one the same mould, and therefore just as bad as each other? (i.e. generally oversize except for being about two scale feet too short)

From what I have seen of them, YES

I also agree with Lee that the Revell kit is the only game in town for an early MiG-21
