For those buying the new tool Airfix Blenheim IVf. CHECK THE INSTRUCTIONS. Mine have the front and back pages for a Blenheim and the main body is for a Gnat (I think)  !!!!! Airfix have been contacted

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thought http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/Airfix_Military_Aircraft_Kit_Instruction_Index_about31728.html might have something, but no.

Check the sprues Chris, it could be a Whiff-in-a-box.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

From ScaleHobbyist:

3 x Hobby Boss 1/700 USS Gato 1944

From Shapeways

1 x GUPPY Northern Sail
1 x GUPPY Electric Boat Sail
1 x GUPPY Portsmouth Sail

From Ebay:

1 x Takara 1/700 USS Grayback Regulus Sub

I'm getting addicted to these little Gatos. The conversions are quick, insane looking, and they paint up easily to boot. I might be tempted into another 3-4 assuming I get good pricing on the hulls.

The plan for the 4 above is:
USS Clamagore as a GUPPY III
USS Argonaut as a Fleet Snorkel
USS Grayback as an SSG (Waterlined with a big saw)
USS Bluegill as an SSK

Nice!  I agree Gato's are great, fun builds, and all sorts sails, etc for the Guppy modifications.  May I suggest a USS GUAVINA in her AOSS-362 role as a fun 1/700 build?  A trials re-fueling boat for the Seaplane Striking Force.  Submarines were part of the mix to refuel SeaMasters, Sea Darts and Tradewinds.  She did trials refueling Marlins. I did her in 1/350 from an ARV kit.  Scratched up the refueling platform on the stern.

I pulled her out for the below photo, she is a bit beat up, with an old skywave Gato alongside in 1/700 for scale.  Rest of the planes and ships are scratch built in 1/700, with the GUAVINA and Sea Dart in 1/350.

hmm, resistance is futile and  i'm narked off about the latest delay to UK delivery of the airfix swift so I re-homed  :banghead:

1/72 airfix B-P Defiant
1/72 airfix Bristol Bienheim IVF

these will be real world as I like the two lesser known RAF sqns that airfix have chosen for the all-over black markings. but the spares in both kits
will be handy. btw, brother narses. I think you got a miss-packed set of instructions as the ones in my IVF were fine.

1/72 italeri Eurofighter [yes its an old kit, but the decal options are good. even has a LGB tally for a 3 sqn a/c during the Libya bombing campaign]

Trev - where did you get the Defiant from?

OGL - noticed you picked up a Lonewulf Spitfire Rammer at SMW. Checked out the kit on't tinterweb - photos of a built one on the Lonewulf Facebook page. What's the kit like and how easy do you think it could be to convert an Olde Schoole Airfix Spitfire I? Looks doable - plenty of plastic sheet and PSR required though.

First Spitfires of the year!

MPM Spitfire PR11
Ventura Spitfire mk IXc early

But bestest of all!
CMR Seafire 47, the 1996 tooling with the incorrect canopy and wing wheel well blisters.  That means another Spitfire FR26!
