Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

btw, brother narses. I think you got a miss-packed set of instructions as the ones in my IVF were fine.

Not miss-packed but miss-printed (I used to know their sister mis-demeanor ). The front page and back 2 are for the Blenheim, the rest for the Gnat

Nice! Would be a perfect A-7P replacement.

From the LHS.
1/72 Academy Catalina "Black Cat".  Comes with additional RAAF decals which I won't use as it'll be a civilian amphibian.  Possibly a turbocat.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

From the Big H new tool Airfix 1/72 Defiant. Looks a delightfull kit   Must admit I had no idea there was a night fighter with a shark's mouth  :o Also my initial reaction on seeing the transfer sheet was to think they'd got the rudder stripe blue way to light a shade. Then you look at the instructions and it says that photos of the aircraft would appear to indicate that this was indeed the case.

This will be a real world day fighter which I think is a very attractive looking option

In light of it's day-time short-comings, I wonder if mounting a couple of gun pods under the wing (like Hurricane Mk.IV's) with .5's or 20mm's would have been feasible -----  :-\

The Defiant had quite a high wing loading, especially compared to a Hurricane. Any more guns and it's turning circle may have exceeded the width of the Channel........

Would that still apply if you removed the turret ? I ask because one of my MPM examples is slated as a single seat light bomber with bomb cells in the wings

That would improve it a lot Chris, that turret must have weighed a fair proportion of the overall weight of the aircraft.

Comparative figures :-

Hurricane (IIC) :- Wing area = 257.5 sq ft Weight max = 7670 lbs Wing Loading = 29.8 lb/Sq ft

Spitfire (Vb) :- Wing area = 242.1 sq ft Weight max = 6622 lbs Wing Loading = 27.4 lb/Sq ft

Defiant (Mk I) :- Wing area = 250.0 sq ft Weight max = 8600 lbs Wing Loading = 34.4 lb/Sq ft

And all that added weight of the Defiant is in the structure, it didn't carry more fuel etc. apart from the extra weight of the gunner.

Also have Pavla Defiant that lost its turret (to a Wellesley), and now it waits for a decent idea for a conversion.

P.96?  Defiant with Sabre or Centaurus (or anything else), fixed armament was investigated. There was an earlier P.88 with the Vulture or Hercules offered (the Hercules powered version had a deeper fuselage).  Basically, beef it up with a powerplant of your choice, since you've not got the turret fair the spine in to make a single or two seater.  Either that, or loose the spine altogether and add a bubble canopy.

There was an earlier P.88 too, with the Vulture and Hercules offered:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
