Captain Canada

I was going to hit that hobby shop in Cambridge today, but after the boys lost we came straight home..... :banghead: I was hoping to grab the Tamiya bikes they had there on sale, Rossi's Yamaha's, the '05 winner and the '09 bike, as well as Tamiyas Rossi at speed kit.

Maybe next time I'm up that way.....

I have sinned, but also benefitted from the sin of another....
Got a Monogram 1/48 Huey Hog kit (everything there except the floor) in a partial swap from a friend. Wonderful memories of building this exact boxing with my dad as a kid! An amazing wave of nostalgia when I got it out of the postal bag.

On Sunday a long-time pilot friend visited and said he had "presents" for me...we carted from his car:
a box of built 1/72 aircraft (most of them complete, "I'm not even sure what's in there") including B-17, Do217, two or three Spits, Hurricane, bombed-up A-6, beautiful Vietnam-era AH-1G, Vigilante, AC-47, Wellington, He111, Stuka, H-34, He162, OH-6A, Tiger Moth, Ju88, control tower, assorted light armour....wow! I'm seriously having trouble remembering what else is in there, I just wish I had space to display them! Some will be whiffed, I'm sure ;-)

But it gets better. There were other boxes. One had books (non-fiction including one about Sabres in Korea, I'm tempted to say it was Osprey) and some kits.
Sealed: Airfix 1/72 Bf109K, Hasegawa 1/72 F-105 New Jersey ANG boxing, Italeri 1/72 UH-1C and a Revell 1/72 CH-54 Skycrane, as well as the fuselage sprue of a 1/72 target-tug Defiant
Started kits: Tamiya Lotus race car and Italeri boxings of the Dragon 1/35 UH-1C and OH-6A

"I figured it'd be better to give all this to you than throw it out", he said. What a gent!

Do I feel lucky? Words don't describe!  ;D

From the big H.

Trumpeter 1/144 F-16B/D block 15/30 two seater. A really lovely little model, two different fins, two different tail pipes, two drop tanks, no other armaments!
Pity it is going to be hacked to death.

2X Italeri P-51A mustangs, both to be hacked to death which is just as well as the wings are more appropriate to a D model.

Ordered yesterday: Moebius Models CATWOMAN figure from the 1960's Batman tv series which I bought for a friend. And also 1 sheet of ArtWox 1/350 scale wood decking for a modern TAMIYA New Jersey battleship.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

The Academy P51A is the best one to have, although the old Frog one isn't too shabby albeit a little basic. It's on a par with the old Monogram P51B.

The RAF, in particular 2TAF, found that the Allison engined Mustangs were superb for low level tactical recon and were rather miffed in late '44 when they couldn't get any more.

I had two kits (won in an online auction) delivered at breakfast today - Trumpeter's 1/72 Wyvern and Gannet AS.1/4. Opened the Wyvern, no idea why the box is so massive! I've wanted one for ages, the Gannet was a bonus to be on-sold but now I have ideas.... They were "won" for $27 as a lot....not bad considering they have $41.95 price tags on them, and then I last saw the Wyvern in a shop it was close to $50! Very pleased.
