...To close the week, received one of my all time favorites... The beautiful Tamiya F4D Skyray!...

Have to agree it's a lovely kit

Yes it is, in both scales.  Here's one of mine done up in a splotchy desert scheme (and more canopy as well)-

Stopped by at the WHIF Sig table, didn't recognise anyone and those there were busy discussing P1121's or somesuch. As on limited stay, decided to exit stage left weighed down but wallet lighter.
Could have happily spent another £100, but went for quality and stuff I may actually get to build in less than a year.
too old for a paper round, too young for me pensions, dammit, back to work then!

shame that the Airfix stand was absent, hoped to get some new kits and older stuff too. ah well, someone else gets my cash I guess.

Cool, i like both of them!  I do have plans to whif it up a bit, maybe go with the P&W J79 engine or maybe even a twin engine version. And i really like Scooter's "more canopy" version , i've always wondered how this would look like with a bubble canopy, F-86 type or something similar, and also,  a different radome, just a bit bigger... Guess that's a plan, right?

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

I have no idea how to whiff my (1/72) Skyray.  I might even make it a RW build <gasp>

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

For my birthday the lovely Sam got me Airfix's new-tool 1/72 Lancaster B.I/III - which I'll build as the aircraft her great uncle was killed in over Aachen - and some extra cash for other models. Woo!

The Wooksta!

Tip:  Assemble as per plans until after the fuselage is complete, then cut the wing spars somewhere inboard of the wheel bays.  Should make it easier to handle and means the wings can be assembled in the normal fashion.

From Hobby HQ - both 1/72.  Revell Noorduyn Norseman and Consolidated Privateer.

Apparently the RAAF had some Norsemen so I might make it RFDS*.
The Privateer I don't know yet.  The Cargo version tempts me but then I could put guns in that solid nose as an anti-shipping aircraft like the Lanc I have planned.  And then again the Sperry nose turret looks great as do the twin upper turrets and the side blisters and given the name it's a given for a Sky Pirate plane...

*Although according to the Hawkwind song it should really be a Percival Proctor.
